Is it elevated in both urine and blood?? Typically, a raised protein can mean a UTI. If it is being found in blood, small amounts of proteins are normal..elevated amounts also indicate infection/inflammation.

You should be checked for diabetes. Was there any sugar in your urine? The doctor can do a 3 months average on your blood sugar level. Testing on fasting, doesn't always show diabetes. I've been there! A stick test for sugar levels should be done an hour after eating. I believe this is when it peaks.

You need to find out what kind of protein it is before a diagnosis can be made. To start, a protein electrophoresis would be useful. A hematologist is a good referral.

Sounds like a UTI, but protein levels can increase with heavy physical exercise and with pregnancy.
