who is a convicted child molester or serial killer can be expected to change their mindset? Most of them, it has been proven through studies of crimes and criminology, commit the crimes they commit because they live outside of societal value systems and do not believe they really did anything wrong? If one said he repented and was truly sorry and promised to never do it again, would you want them to live in your neighborhood? That is stretching it for me and I consider myself a progressive thinking Christian.

no i also think they cannot nor want 2 change.
they can't b rehabilitated, reformed or in some cases most don't want 2!
i'm probably alone in this but
i'd put them up against the wall, shoot the lot and let god sort it out.
and obviously we're talking about confirmed/proven paedophiles.
i would not want 2 kill an innocent person.
unfortunately these men ( sometimes women ) r master manipulators, proficient liars and r 2 dangerous 4 us 2 live alongside.
i would not want 1 living near me or my family.
ever.

A serial killer convicted on overwhelming evidence, as all I have heard of are, should not be kept alive.
The term "child molester" covers to broad a spectrum of acts or aledged actions. And too often is charged falsly. The Ducan case in Idaho is an example of the worst of the worst. this man should not be living...And there have been many such. there is no doubt that these occured... But there are many men out there who did nothing wrong and are the victim. many of ex wife vengence. And there are many cases of "councelors" and"therapists" either bringing false charges or coaching children to say things occured that did not... I know of a man who was in jail for months because his ex and a social worker got his daughter who was 4 to say things occured that did not... it was not untill reliable witnesses became aware of the lies being told and testified that he could not possably have done what was said because he was not present when they were said to have occured... another therapist finaly got involved and found the other theripist had been found to be coaching many other children in other cases...
I have no sympathy for those who harm children in any way. and sexual preditors who attack children should join the serial killers in line for judgment and hell... but I want the facts and clear evidence befor I label or accept labels... I have seen enough to know that many inocent men have fallen victim to witch hunt mentality when children are wrongly used by adults who are falsely accusing...

There are a several serial killers who profess to be Christian, indeed some will say God made them do it. Also, as you well know, the Catholic church has certainly glossed over the amount of clergy involved in molesting children, I'm an atheist but try to live a decent and good life.
So if God did exist he would certainly have probems sorting that lot out.

you said something like this yesterday
Is it just me or?
are there other people out there who think someone who chooses to be a murderer or child molester has become so because societal values much less religious ones have ceased to exist for them. I think they will remain the way they are because they have come to see themselves as having done nothing wrong. And since that is the case...why should they not fry? Why should we treat them better and more humanely than we treat the homeless?
That was your question
These people are born this way...it's a genetic disfunction. There is no cure for rapists, child moleters or serial killers
that's what I said yesterday

I would not want them living in my neighborhood especially since I do have children and they play outside but the cold hard fact with reality now days is the people don't have to be convicted of it and still live in your neighborhood. This day and age they are everywhere you go. I really don't think that they change just because they go to jail. I think they want to believe they have changed so they can get back into society.

Neighbors across the street saw a man enter our kids window and called the cops.
They got there quick and as the molester stuck his head out the window, the cops grabbed him and pulled him out.
We woke up after the cops threw the guy up against the house.
Anyway, he didn't do anything to the kids.
The cops think he changed his mind on whatever he was going to do.
He was wearing purple womens leodards.
Later, the cops told us guys of his nature cannot be rehabiltated.
They are right.
Mr Johnny V spent a year for what he did to us.
After he got out, went back in for a year for auto theft.
Then he spent time for child molestation.
A little blonde girl like our daughter.
They can't be rehabed. Lock them up for life.

Regardless of what science sas about child molesters, I would not be able to trust them again. I have had experience with "repentive" child molesters- I would rather err on the side of caution than put an innocent child in a potentially harmful sitation. I would rather trust a known theif- my stuff can always be replaced, but the innocence of a child cannot and it is something they would live with forever.
As a christian, I believe that you can forgive a child molestor but still walk in wisdom and discernment regarding your contanct and interaction with them.

I think it's idiotic to think they've changed the way they think.
Heck my brother in law (soon to be ex brother-in-law and not quite as into the bad stuff as what you've pointed out. He's a druggie and a dealer. In and out of prison and rehab 5 times now) keeps saying he's "found god", then he goes and does the exact same thing as he was doing before, gets arrested all over again, and goes back to prison.
Then he continues the cycle.
Seriously, how many times can a person lie before you (generic you) stop being dumb enough to believe them.

Ask your self the question "What has God done in my life?" Can you see that God has led you to turn from your bad habits and old ways of thinking and talking?
God has the ability to give each one of the strength, wisdom and will that can completely change our lives if we will choose to accept the gifts that he offers and follow him. If God can do that for you, what makes you think that he can't do it for other people?
I must admit that I would be very cautious at first. Pay attention to the person's habits and words, and before too long, you will be able to know if God really has transformed the person. "By their fruits, you shall know them."

Your questions today are very telling. Why can't you just admit that you're not Christian? It's o.k. It actually makes you a better, more moral person in many eyes.
I am being sincere. I used to be a "progressive-thinking Christian," too. I couldn't deal with the hypocrisies: anti-gay, anti-choice, censorship, prayer in scools, etc. I think that, given a few years, you'll probably come to terms with dismissing the abusive, ignorant, contradictory, man-serving and oppressive parts of the religion -- after you admit that Christianity is a religion. Giving up what you think is your "identity" is difficult at first. Then you'll feel like you're finally seeing in color. It's the most peaceful I've ever been. Also, the lines between right and wrong finally make more sense than "the Bible tells me so."
P.S. I think Wayne wants you.
