To maintain troop strength in the Iraq and continue with reasonable
military readiness in the US and in other interests around the world,
we'll need to have a draft in the next two years.

So: Either we adopt a draft, or we at least somewhat
reduce our operations in Iraq.

What is the morally correct action here?

NO! no draft... look into the draft during Vietnam... I still think that is the worst thing this country did.. took young men, straight out of high school, whose biggest problem was whether or not a certain girl liked him, to throwing him out of a plane in the middle of a jungle to run for and fight for his life, and watch his friends die in front of him, with hardly any training. It's sad.. and the US learned from it, and it will never happen again-and no democrats do not want a draft because I'm a democrat and I sure don't

As a member, I abhor the thought of a draft. Attitudes can be pretty poor amongst volunteers; imagine the issues we'd face with people that would really rather be doing something else. In regards to troop strength, you've erred. As long as we continue to meet recruiting goals, we won't have a personnel issue. We have thousands of peopel we haven't deployed, and haven't called yet. I think we'll be good for quite a while.

There is no need for a draft.

The military does not want a draft.

Congress does not want a draft

And again - there is no need for a draft.

No. Contrary to popular myth we have sufficent forces to fight our wars. We still have troops in Okinawa, South Korea who are not being used for any good purpose other than to take up space. The Koreans no longer want us there. It is time we left!

Yeah, we need to instate a draft, so the rich republicans who, for now don't have to send their kids into the military for a decent education, will know what is to sit and know that their kids are dying for a senseless war!
