1 John 1:5-7
Walking in the light
5This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all[b] sin.
If we are sinners (unrepentant) God knows. We can lie to one another...but God knows the truth!

1John 1:5-7 reads this way.....
And this is the message which we have heard from him and are announcing to you, that God is light, and is no darkness at all in union with him. If we make the statement, "We are having a sharing with him," and yet we go on walking in the darkness, we are lying and are not practicing the truth. However, if we are walking in the light, we do have a sharing with one another, and the blood of Jesus his son cleanses us from all sin.
God the father Jehovah is the spiritual enlightenment..nothing dark or bad is associated with him. If we say we are worshippers of His but continue to do bad things we are lying because we are not practicing good things...but if we are holy as God is holy then yes we are worthy to accept the gift of life from God because Jesus died for us all but only the ones who walk according to God's will, get the gift

Light represents what is good, pure, true, holy, and reliable. Darkness represents what is sinful and evil. The statement "God is light" means that God is perfectly holy and true and that he alone can guide us out of the darkness of sin. Light is also related to truth in that light exposes whatever exists, whether it is good or bad. In the dark, good and evil look alike; in the light, they can be clearly distinguished. Just as darkness cannot exist in the presence of light, sin cannot exist in the presence of a holy God. If we want to have a relationship with God, we must put aside our sinful ways of living. To claim that we belong to him but then to go out and live for ourselves is hypocrisy. Christ will expose and judge such deceit.

It is telling you that GOD is light And that in Him their is no darkness..Meaning that were ever God is their will be no darkness...At all....So if their is any wrong in it God is no were around,,,If we claim to have Fellow ship with Him yet walk in darkness...Fellow Ship means We trust in His word... And try our very best to live in Gods ways were their is no wrong or Darkness....By reading His word daily to keep us strong and own the right track....A lot like going back to school....And getting educated In God words....We lie and do not live by the truth.....This to me means...When we lie and we do not stand up for what we no is right knowing that it is right...We are living a lie and we are not living by the truth we are living by Lies...Misconception......Like saying yes to the things you no you should be saying no too...And saying yes to the things you no that you should being NO too...That is called living in a lie called darkness...If its of Good it is of God....If their is just a little bit of wrong in it is not of God....If someone dose not pray each day you get out of touch with *your*Holy spirit...I talk to the Lord Daily ...To keep close to Him for Guidance...God bless The U.S.A. And Israel And All......

Thanks for the question, it made me think. Having no darkness can't mean we can't have any ignorance, because non of us know it all. Yet in thinking about this question I was impressed that if we try to distort or obscure the truth when light is revealed, or try to create a haze to hid behind when evidences show errors in us or our beliefs, we are walking in darkness, as God has no part of making lies and darkness to hid behind. Yet many people do hid behind a maze of lies and distortions which they have created.

It is a very nice verse. Just as God is light, so too, we have light in us. We are told to let our light shine to the world. I imagine that the light that is within us is given to us by God, however, the fact is that we have a spark of divinity within. It is a beautiful concept.

THis is a verse that we use with our children.
They attend public schools and are bombarded by the secular world constantly.
It shows them that God knows what they are tempted by and nothing can be hidden from God even if it is temporarily kept from us the parents.
To attend church and profess God with our voices is great, we must also live out what we know God wants from us.

What do you think of when you think of light versus dark?
When I think of light, I think of goodness, love, acceptance, joy, radiance, and guidance
When I think of dark, I think of evil, sadness, depression, misery, and torture
I want to be in the light. We all have a choice. Do you choose to live in the light or live in the dark? When you live in the light, God can see all you do........do you make him happy with what you do? Can he see your love returned to him in the light of love he bestows on you?
or
Do you chose to live in the dark? Doing things that are wrong. Deceiving others, stealing from others, being cruel to others, and ultimately being the most cruel to yourself
I choose God and I choose light.
That's what I get from that Bible verse.
Sincerely,
Robin_in_Tennessee

Sounds pretty straight forward to me.
In other words you don't just say you believe, you best walk the talk and do as he did....or you are a liar and do not live in the light.
