If you want him to do right, you're already starting off on the wrong foot. I remember when I was in high school how the wrestlers would always be starving themselves to make their weight class....that is NOT healthy, especially not for a growing 9 y.o. boy.

Oh my God, what is wrong with you? He is 9! He is growing! You don't make a 9 y/o LOSE weight! I don't care if he's trying to lose it to make his weight in wrestling. You want a 9 y/o to GROW.

Take him to a pediatrician and ask the doctor there. If they don't report you to Children's Services, maybe they will give you some HEALTHY advice.

Why not let him wrestle at a higher weight class??????

I agree with Boodie, he should just go to a higher weight class. I would never try to get my nine year old boy to lose weight for a sport.
