Most likely yes there is a notation on your chart that states you have history of drug abuse. Hospitals will also keep record of ER visits for pain medications. So if you are known to visit ER's seeking pain meds, the local area hospitals will know your name.

you don't mention what kind of surgery you had. If it was a simple procedure and you were discharged then I suspect you will just have to deal with the discomfort, and it will pass. You are the one that smoked weed, and you are the one that told your doctor/surgeon, now you have to take the responsibility for your actions, not to mention the consequences.
You can try calling the doctor that did the procedure and asking him for just a few pills of a stronger medication, sometimes they will go for that.

depends, if you are a Dr hopper/shopper than yes, it can be a red flag to the physician you are seeing now. Also if you were addicted to street drugs like cocaine/herion... the dr may not want to prescribe meds that have opiates or morphine due to concern of you becoming hooked on them. or you could just have a Dr that doesnt like to prescibe strong pain killers, since they mask the real pain it is hard to pinpoint the cause making it hard to fix/heal.

Yes, there are record kept of drug abuse. If you've been to a mental health facility inpatient they have probably done drug screening on you. Doctors will not prescribe narcotics to someone who has abused them. Using narcotics you get from your friends are not going to help your mental health issues there going to make them worse. Your'll be dealing with addiction also.

Look at it this way,,,,,,, if you have been convicted of stealing money from a till, then no one will put you in a position to do it again. In other-words, if you have abused drugs in the past then it is your own fault that no one would trust you with ANY drugs again!!! Do you even need to waste peoples time to ask this question???

ANY RESPONSIBLE PHYSICIAN WOULD BE VERY CAUTIOUS TO PRESCRIBE PAIN MEDICATIONS TO A PATIENT WHO HAS ABUSED DRUGS.
MY ADVICE WOULD BE FOR YOU TO FIND A SINGLE DR. OFFER THEM PROOF THAT YOU OBTAINED HELP FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IF YOU ARE INDEED IN PAIN THEY MAY BE WILLING TO HELP YOU OUT WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF PAIN MEDS AND MAKE YOU EARN THEIR TRUST.
DR'S. ARE THERE TO HELP YOU BUT CAN GET INTO TROUBLE IF THEY IN-ABLE A USER.
THIS ALSO MAKES IT HARDER FOR THE REAL PATIENTS IN PAIN TO GET HELP!!!
INS. COMPANY'S AND PHARMACIST'S CAN CALL A DR. IF THEY SUSPECT YOU ARE SHOPPING AROUND FOR PAIN KILLERS THE HOSPITALS ALSO RED FLAG THIS TOO.
