My husband wants out of our marriage because I won't accept his 16 year olds behavour. We have an 8 year old son together. The older boy has had years of problems with sex abuse, porn, voyerism, drugs and on and on. He has alianated his entire family and myself because of this child and risks his job with his drinking. How do alcoholics really feel inside?

Most alcoholics feel they are either NOT alcoholics , or that they have control over it... They also feel that others are there just to hinder on their happiness so they'll dismiss most constructive thoughts you wave at them.

Alcoholics also rarely retain much information. Alcoholics from many years of abuse will lose the ability to retain new information they would otherwise not need to know; they'll foget something you said to them the day before or things like that.

It's a real disease, alcoholism... The problem is that it is not yet fully recognised as such, and most who suffer from it refuse to admit it, or worst yet, refuse to do anything about it because "they got it under control".

The fact that your husband would break up his marriage over this kid is part of the reason his son is such a mess. Your husband is blind to his son's major problems and your husband needs to face up to them. Otherwise, he's going to be a divorced man visiting his son in prison someday.
