I cut my own hair and it looks great; except I've developed huge split ends. My hair is healthy and not processed. Is it possible that my scissors were too dull and created the split ends? What kind of scissors should I use?
I want to keep cutting my own hair since it looks great. I usually have to pay $25 for someone to trim my hair, but they don't do a good job.

I cut my daughters hair and the same thing happened. My friend who used to work in a salon told me I used the wrong kind of scissors and they were to dull.
Go to a hair care supply place and invest in a good pair of scissors. Its worth the investment.
Have the split ends trimmed up and use a good shampoo and conditioner

Yes, dull scissor do not cut well and can leave the ends of your hair jaggered and split. Invest in some professional hairdresser scissors - you can buy them at a beauty supply tore or at a knives shop. Get them sharpened frequently.

It sounds like the scissors. Unless if you are tilting them a certain way causing it to "razor" your hair. Razoring looks like split ends far away, but is not. Maybe you should get it trimmed at a salon every month so you will not get split ends.

You need to buy good hair cutting scissors and I know that it is possible that if you cut it the wrong way, you can cause broken ends.

no when you cut hair it actually gets rid of the split ends, as your hair gradually grows, it causes split ends, which is the main reason you cut it, either for fun, or to get rid of the dry split ends
