LOL,

I'd agree it's impolite, ma'am; but I'm inclined to say it would be more discourteous than rude.

Do have a nice day.

PS,

However, Mr. Spackler would fall into the rude category. LOL

Yes I'm sure that most people know that burping is rude, but some people really don't know how to silently burp, or a burp may come out so fast that it is beyond control, but there are some that think that burping out loud is very funny, and others do it because they just don't care.

Some people can't help but burp out loud. What's rude is when they don't excuse themselves. We have all had situations where we have talked to someone and a burp comes out. If we don't apologize then that's rude. So, if that happens and they don't say excuse me, let them know.

Not all cultures consider it rude. In fact, in some parts of Europe it's an insult to the cook to NOT burp after a meal.
Most likely the people you're dealing with are just not that concerned about covering up what we all know we all do. It's not terribly classy, but formal manners are pretty much going extinct anyway.

If they're forcing themselves to burp, then laughing about it, then it is rude. Otherwise, why is burping rude? It's a natural bodily function that everyone does (just like passing gas) that on most occasions, can't be controlled. Do you excuse yourself when you urinate? Have a bowel movement in a public restroom?

If they don't excuse themselves, then it's rude. I mean, it can happen.

However, in some cultures, it's not rude. I think in China it's not. And in some Arabic countries, if you do it after a meal, it means that youhad a good meal, and it's actually polite to do it.

I don't know exactly what the etiquette in these countries is, but it's something like that. However, in Western countries, it's rude.

My older sibling will do this just to annoy me. Now I just ignore it. Unexpected burps can be funny. Men often find burping funny which makes me think there strange creatures that should be studied. I as least trained myself to say exuse me.

Even though it's EXTREMELY disgusting, most people who do that just don't care. I know someone in my class that is like that, and it's really disgusting. It's really nasty and it gives me the shivers. But, I think in either Italy or France, it's a thank you, and means they enjoyed your food. It can be a compliment. But I really do wish people would say excuse me, because then atleast they apologized and you have that.
