The Bible school principal got it wrong. Whoever he teaches will be an impoverished teacher themselves.

Spirituality might be described as our relationship with God. The only way we can get to know God is by looking intently at the information He supplies about himself. We must pray regularly, daily if possible - and it should be possible unless we are unconcious, We need to do His will, and not try to fit His word into our own interpretation. We must draw close to Him. "Draw Close To Jehovah" is a book which is freely available from Jehovah's Witnesses.
