What a mess. Consider his shock at the mentioning of his adaptations to the role of GRANDPA; let alone what you did to his little girl....hahahaha Congrats you lucky guy...Treat her good during her pregnancy listening to the hormones and then you will be DADDY

ask permission to marry his daughter with respect and a hand shake, the 2 of you should sit down & talk to him about the new arrival. he might be more open to you.if your really nervous,go to a public restuarant pay for his dinner, everyone will have to be on best behavior.after words doesn't go well sit thru the fire works & take it like adults. you will be a father soon enough treat him the way you want to be treated.respect goes along ways & shows you have good character.good luck-and have a healthy baby.

Since the two of you is not in a good relation, it's better not tell him directly. Let her daughter / your fiancee that do the telling.
In meantime, do things to improve your relationship with him, just don't over do it. And if he want to keep the relationship to stay the way it is, let him, since that's a certain way for the two of you to keep peace between the two of you. It's better to have a calm relationship than a fiery one.

If he has a weak heart, spring it on him! He will laugh once he gets out of the hospital. Or, dont tell him, and dont let him see his daughter for nine months, until she is in labor. Then call him and tell him that she is near death. When he gets there and sees that she is still alive, AND that he has a new gradnchild, he will be so happy he wont kill you much!

Both of you should tell him together. You should not be the one to tell him all by your lonesome. If you're getting married soon, like next week, you can wait. If not, I think that you and your fiance should tell him as soon as possible or he will probably hold a grudge.

There is no easy way to tell him if you are not married yet... Best bet is to tell her mother first, so she can break the news to him... Or just wait till after you are married, if the wedding is soon...
