check your scanner drivers, right click my computer, select manage, then device manager, do you see your scanner there under imaging devices? Make sure there is no yellow question mark next to it. If there is then you need to load your drivers again. Maybe this is a dumb question, but you have loaded your scanning software that came with it right? Has the scanner worked before? What is the interface that it uses (i.e. serial, scsi, usb, etc.)? If it is recognized as an installed device on your machine the problem has to be a software issue, which usally means there was a problem with the install of the scanning software, the scanner drivers or the hardware installation. If this is a new install that has never worked before, take the time to carefully read the instructions and follow them step by step. You can go to control panel and add remove programs and see if your scanning software is even there if so remove and start over. If not, then that is your problem.

give more details... did your scanner work before in good condition,, then now it is stopped and all of its driver and scanning programs disapear? OR it is a new one,, and you do not know how it works? if so,, then you have to know that after you install its driver,, you have to install a software to use it in scanning process,, this software suppose to come with your scanner on the same CD which contains the driver,, you have to install it after installing the driver

No worries.. it just means that somehow you have deleted the `shortcut' to the same from your desktop.. try running the same from the `start' menu
Start>Programs> (select your scanner from the drop down menu)
