Anything worth having is worth working for. If you want to pursue a singing career, you can begin by taking voice lessons from a reliable teacher (look at their credits, degrees, schools of study, etc.). I would seek the guidance of a college instructor who has had performing experience. The recommended age to begin training a female voice is 14, so you can start next year! :) I would also recommend that you join a church or community choir to explore your voice. You should always have in mind that singing is not supposed to be painful, so if you feel as if you're doing something detrimental to your voice, you should suspend that type of singing immediately.
Another aspect of singing is performing. Seek to be involved in community theater productions such as musicals and regular plays. The acting skills you gain while you're young will be very beneficial to you in your upcoming years. The key is to create a solid foundation for your gift so that you can make your dream come true! Talk to your parents about some voice lessons!

Given you're so young, you need to develop your voice and get some experience. Suggest you get involved in school and community performance activities-- choir, talent shows, plays, musicals, etc. Some voice lessons probably could't hurt either-- regardless of singing talent.
If you want to write, start writing music and/or lyrics as well.
Playing an instrument would be good thing too but not necesarily mandatory (piano or guitar are pretty good in this regard). It helps in that you'll need to learn music -- how to read it, play it, style, tempo, etc.
Waiting to get discovered won't happen. Even getting discovered by doing things is a long-shot. You have to work at it and get exposure.

I would suggest that you join your church's Contemporary Christian Music group, which will give you experience in singing many songs. Our group provides ten different songs each Sunday, rain or shine, so members learn to pick up and perform a song well in a short time.
In addition, or as an alternative, I would suggest you consider forming a church Youth Band which could play at services or at church coffeehouses. This will also give you performing experience.
Then, I would look into performing in local dinner theater productions (although you might be too young, at 13, for this), or in "little theater" musicals.
Your question didn't indicate whether you simply had a good sounding voice, or if you also had mastered dynamics, expression, singing pronounciation, and vocal presentation. Obviously, an experienced teacher can help with these, and possibly help refer you to various professionals who can further your career by getting you auditions. If you decide to do it yourself, then I would recommend the DVD set "Acting Skills for Singers" (Google it) to help with presentation.
It would also help to decide what type of music you wish to sing, so you can eventually get any job and then try to get gigs at local places that feature it.
Google "stage presence" and read the articles by band members to get other information as to the real world requirements to be a singing professional.
Best of luck in pursuing your dream.

War is a touchy and fascinating matter and worlwide problem. Singers can not relatively relate to the consequences of warfare if they have got on no account skilled what have an effect on it has had on them or the ones round them. But personally I feel it's beautiful well that they pick to jot down and sing approximately a touchy problem and matter. People who listen songs founded on warfare, can get a regular notion what have an effect on it's having and it will lead them to recognize and feel extra.

no, you start by singing in school talent shows. If you aren't in school anymore then you try singing in local clubs on "open mike"night and get your voice out there. Also most places have a local "country showdown" or some sort of local talent type thing to get to sing for. Any thing like that gets you the chance to get your name out therer and your voice heard.
