My wife and I are laid off and it's never been better! we receive unemployment, free oil heat for our home, about 1/2 our weekly food order is free, we get free health insurance for our family (given by the state of massachusetts) free housing is also available to some but we own so we can't get that! but we were saying it's so nice to spend time with our children and raise them, why go back to work and pay for health insurance, back in the rat race needing daycare etc.? especially now we can afford to get a mini van which we need with the kids...life is good! This is our FIRST time needing assistance and most of it we never even knew about, but wow, USA and Mass are a great place to be!! why work?

ha ha ha ha!!! you really have come up with a stinker, if you wanted to push peoples buttons you have done it!!!

I realize that all you have wanted to do is try and p iss people off with that question.

I am going to make an assumption and rest assured that you are a member of this planet and that you do REALLY want to better yourself and provide for your family.

Good question, keep p issing people off, it makes for great reading.

Unbelievable! I was fired because I drew work man's compensation. As soon as I was released from the doctor they fired me. My wife is disabled and can't get social security and shouldn't be working. She has heart problems and is constantly in the hospital. She asked for help to go to college they refused to help her. We drive a broken down pick up truck that all of us can't ride together not enough seat belts, so wife and some children must stay home. We are ineligble for medical as my wife made $1 more this month. We were cut long ago on food stamps as she makes $800 a month. Our electricity has a double payment arrangement. I actually owe unemployment as the employer lied. I am being sued for something I didn't do. And you can afford to get a new mini van? How!?!?!?!? I have never gotten assistance or help and we were homeless for 6 months. No help but from friends. Granted staying home will help you save money on babysitting bills but I understand the medical. Paying medical bills barely leaves you with enough money to buy a gallon of milk. Wait until they cancel you cause they'll take your new mini van as an asset and its worth.

Because not everyone is LAZY and looking for a FREE RIDE! You are the type that really rub me the wrong way, as far as asking for free stuff. My husband and I both work hard at our jobs, but are having problems making ends meet. We make too much money for assistance, though we could really, really use it. Meanwhile, people like you are taking advantage of the government.

Let me just say I honestly know that their are people that REALLY need assistance, and then there are lazy scumbags that don't want to work. Instead people like my husband have to bust their asses at work so that you can be lazy. The only reason you are getting help, is because you have children. I'm a stay at home mom, and am lucky that my husband makes enough for me to do this WITHOUT public assistance. Why don't you get off your *** like a REAL man and get a job to support your wife and children, and save the assistance for someone who really needs it.

So you don't raise your children to become welfare cases when they grow up. Children need to learn the value of a dollar. When you raise your children on the state's money you teach them that its ok. Now don't get me wrong. If you are down in your luck right now, then get help. But get back on your feet. Show your kids that if you get down on your luck, then ask for help, but then get back up and start again.

Sure why not? Like they say....work harder... millions on welfare are depending on you! That is the problem with this country, everybody is looking for a handout, get off your ***, be a respectable US citizen, and go back to work. I think the illegals are mooching enough......we don't need any more lazy s-hits who live off of taxpayers money.

I think if you really need the assistance fine. But there are too many out there that abuse it and the ones that really need it can't get it. I am glad that you have the help you need, but if you are able to work you should. There are so many really needy people out there that can't work do to health issues and they can't get the help that they truly deserve. I wish you well and hope that when you can you will get a job and get of the system. God Bless.

All that assistance will run out. It's nice to be able to stay home with your children, but it's also nice to know that you bought your own things, not the tax payers. Staying at home will become boring and you will want to go back to work!

The system was set up for those that need temporary emergency help or permanent help for those with disabilities. If everybody used it all the time, who would be left to pay the taxes that pay for it?

good point. if you're getting freebies, why work? unless of course you have higher ambitions in life. if you want to gain more, live a much better life, then you have to step up. doesn't necessarily mean you have to go back in that "rat race"... make money work for you. get some helpful tidbits from Robert Kyosaki's best-seller "Rich Dad, Poor Dad"
