My dad is diabetic and I feel so sorry for him whenever Christmas comes around because he used to adore chocolate and all the luxury festive food you can buy. I'd love him to still be able to enjoy it a bit without doing himself any harm so any ideas would be much appreciated!

You can purchase some:

Or you can make some:

http://www.recipezaar.com/78103 (I've never made this egg nog, and I can't find the recipe for the one I like - it's SO simple! I know you use sugar-free vanilla pudding, milk, and nutmeg. . .grrrr! I need to find that before Christmas! Or maybe I'll try this one!)

Sugar is definitely something to watch out for when you're diabetic! But there is still fat and calories in the recipes, so a little goes a long way.

There's a lot of options now for diabetics, and my boyfriend is diabetic. I don't know if you're planning to make anything or buy anything, but just make sure it's sugar free. Another thing is that if you plan on making him something, splenda sugar for baking is really good, and he can still enjoy something sweet without the health risk. You can make him a fruit basket with nuts and fruit. Or since he likes chocolate you can make him a chocolate pudding pie with sugar free jello pudding and it's easy, just cook the pudding, pour it into a graham cracker crust, and let it sit in the fridge. and some fat free whipped cream or you can whip up some egg whites and add some splenda or equal sugar... if you google diabetic desserts or something like that you can find something to buy as well. good luck!

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/a6JKm

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.
