Yesterday morning I went to the hospital and had a blood test while I was there. They put on a curcular bandaid to dtop the bleeding afterwards. Today when I took off the bandaid, though, there are TWO ugly brown bruises under where the band-aid used to be, and not where the needle pierced the skin! Next to it!
What are those? Is that normal? When does that happen? Will it go away? Should I go back to the hospital?

That is blood pooling under the skin from the needle puncturing your vein...this too shall pass...your body will re-absorb the blood.

I would watch it like a hawk. I wouldn't rush off to the hospital for this kind of thing but it is a little weird. I never use bandaids unless I really need them. Cuts and scrapes and stuff need to breathe. Bandaids are good for people that have to use the thing that is cut and they need to get it dirty. You could be having a reaction to the latex in the bandaid, wich isn't a big deal just something to watch for. In addition if you got it from the hospital don't rush back to go get some more. Hospitals are places that make money off of you weither on not you get better. Find a good family doctor or clinic.

Perfectly normal - usually a slight leakage of blood after the hypodermic is retracted.

I find that if the injection does not hurt I get a large bruise, but if it doesn't I do not get one!

It will clear up in a few days.
