I was told that the rich man "opened his eyes" on the second resurrection. The first resurrection is said to be of the saved so that Christ can take them away. Then Christ returns 1000 years later with the saved and the unsaved are resurrected. So I was told that if there was going to be a dialogue between the saved and the lost, they would have to resurrected from the grave. To suuport this, the verse after the parable is cited:
Luke 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Nah, this has nothing to do with the second resurrection, which happens after the Millennial Reign; this is also called the Great White Throne Judgement. Jesus and the saved don't "return" at that time; they've already been on earth, governing those who lived through the Tribulation and their children, for 1,000 years.

Abraham's words "though one rose from the dead" refer to the Rich Man himself, who wanted to go back and convince his brother that he'd better repent. Abraham essentially told the Rich Man, "look, if your brother doesn't believe what Moses and the prophets wrote about the afterlife, he won't believe you even if you become a ghost and try to warn him!"

Peace.

Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead. The rest of what you are claiming that Jesus returned 1000 years later is completely false

I think you are being taught your particular churches doctrine.

Not all churches believe this. some do not even believe in the literal 1,000 year reign.

The bibles says very little on this and these theories are merely guesses and man's elaborating on things not elaborated on in the bible.
