I have had cellulitis 3 times. Once in my armpit, once on my leg, and once on my breast. They all started out with what looked like a cyst and they all spread very rapidly. it was caused by an infection called MRSA. This is a very dangerous condition that needs to be treated with non-typical antibiotics. The first two times I had it I was hospitalized for a week at a time. The last time I recgonized the symptoms and went to my doctor right away and was able to take antibiotics at home. Please see you MD, ask to be tested for MRSA, and take your antibiotics exactly how they are prescribed to you. These infections can get real nasty and very painful. Hope this helps and that you aare feeling better.

Yes cellulitis is very serious. You can get it anywhere on your body. The way you get it is by having an open sore or wound and bacteria sets in. If you went swimming, it is possible that you got some kind of infectious bacteria that way, even though there is usually a lot of chlorine in the water to prevent that - it's not 100%. If you went swimming in a pond or lake - well then your chances of picking up something infectious increases by about a million percent. If you know for a fact that you have cellulitis, I'm assuming that you have been to the doctor. If you just think you do because someone else told you that's what it might be, then you need to see a doctor. It can be very serious and even call for hospitalization. If by chance you are also diabetic, it can be deadly. Antibiotics are going to be a requirement whether you are hospitalized or not. Please, if you have not received medical attention yet - do so. I have a friend that had we not got him to the doctor - immediately followed by a 12 day stay in the hospital, he would have died from it.

Yes, it can get very serious if untreated, so you shouldn't ignore it. Try to get some colloidal silver (We get ours online from www.puritan.com). Colloidal silver helps build up your immune system. First, a doctor will probably prescribe an anitbiotic, which will help get rid of it (it took six weeks before the antibiotic finally got my wife's!). But cellutitis is very bad to come back later. The colloidal silver helps prevent you from getting it again.
