Saute fresh diced onion, crushed or minced garlic, and diced green pepper in olive oil. Add tomato sauce and diced or crushed tomatoes. Season with oregano, salt, pepper, basil, and a few fennel seeds. You can also add red wine, mushrooms. Cook for an hour or so on very low. Taste, adjust the seasoning. Add a pinch of sugar if sauce is too acidic.
If you want meat sauce cook ground beef, ground turkey, or italian sausage (without the casing) with the vegetables at the beginning.

there's a lot of variations you can have to make your sauce... you either have to add fresh herbs, meat, and veggies...
DON'T USE VEGGIE OIL... that isn't gonna help.. now if you're gonna sautee your veggies before you add them to the sauce, use olive oil.. it will help it taste better. but don't just add oil to your sauce honey.
use fresh or minced garlic that comes in a jar... garlic brings out a lot of flavor and it's healthy.

***add tomato paste to make it thicker. and if you're trying to make marinara, add stewed tomatoes to it.

mushrooms, onion, bellpepper, thyme, oregano, pepperoni, italian sausage, groundbeef are some other things you can add to bring it out...

in the seasoning aisle at the store they have seasoning packets for spaghetti sauce and it's really robust and delicious and it's about a buck, it's either made by mccormicks or lawry's.
add some sugar to take some of the acidity taste out.. but just add a lil at a time, don't dump it in there. believe me, you won't taste the sugar if you put just enough.
***Very important.. when you incorporate all of what you want to add, keep it on a low heat and stir constantly because if you don't it will burn!! some girl didn't do that and she's on here asking how to remove the burnt taste from her sauce. But yeah, when you make it home made you need to add some more to it because all you have is some seasoned tomato sauce, but you need some more flavor honey, and just add a little bit, and you'll know when you got you some spaghetti sauce goin on.. good luck...

Try to avoid dried herbs. You only need to shred 1 carrot and 1 onion, let it become transparent (use 1 tablespoon of oil) on a low heat, then add the tomato juice, cover with the lid and let it simmer for at least 20 minutes. If you use canned tomatoes, make sure that they're chopped, you can do so with a fork or a knife. Before you turn off the heat, season with salt (no pepper), and add some fresh basil leaves.

My mom's recepie:

Ground beef or turkey if meat is wanted
1 can of tomato sauce
1 can of tomato paste
chopped onion
1 bay leaf
italian seanoning
pepper
garlic salt

I say anything thing else you want to add goes in after your sauce is ready. Go by taste. Add more of this or that till you get that flavor you wanted.

No, no longer a bad theory. ought to start up with Ragu, and then upload seasonings to flavor till now commencing the recipe. I do this lots so i do no longer ought to function lots of seasonings and it nevertheless tastes stable.
