im stuck between religion and life, if you know what i mean. while the thought of Heaven makes me feel safe, the thought of reality makes me frightened to the greatest depths of my fears.

My 30 year old son mentioned this to me just a few days back. I told him this. From the moment we are born, we begin dying. When it all ends, it doesn't matter how big your bank account was, what matters is how many peoples lives you touched in a positive way. If you convince yourself that this is IT and there is nothing after, you condemn yourself to a life of fear. Concentrate on the here and now and just the immediate future. Thinking too far ahead is counterproductive and a waste of effort. Just wake up each day and be glad for that and what you have in life that matters. Family, health, friends.

I'm not going to go into religious belief, that's too personal a subject. But I think if you concentrate on those things you can make a real difference in, things you can touch, see & feel every day, you will be a happier person in your life. My 2 cents. :)

Well as many like to think that you go to heaven right after you die that is not true. Read Ecclesiastes 9:5 and Acts 2:29,34 Study these chapters and the Lord will reveal the truth to you. Don't be frighten for there is something to look forward to if you live your life accordingly to Gods will.

Thats a really common thing and it's why the idea of heaven has stuck around for so long.

From the people that I know who have left christianity, the "fear of death" thing was a very intense part of their leaving the faith. It didn't last long, however.

What I believe happens when we die is nothing. I *wish* there was a heaven very much! But I also wish that Gerard Way and Brad Pitt were madly in love with me. I cannot chose reality based on what I most want to be true.

Instead of focusing on the "nothing" that will happen when you die, focus on the time you have here and now as much as you are able. As you move forward, facing your fears as much as you are able, you will find they fade over time.

Best wishes to you.

Surely our creator would know the answer to this often asked question. He is the Master over life & death and has given clear explanations such as:
Ecclesiaistes 9:5 - For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all...
Ecclesiastes 9:11 - All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in (the Grave), the place to which you are going.
Based on the last quoted text we should live to the fullest and enjoy the beautiful gift of life. Bearing in mind the parameters/requirements that the Giver of Life has stated - also found in His Word.

Christians believe in heaven and hell. Check these links for more info. An alpha course is a non threatening safe course for anyone with questions like yours, I have assissted on a few of these courses and whilst some people become christians during the course, there are some who don't so there's truly no pressure. If you're already a believer (or if you're not I guess!) try reading 'the shock of your life' by Adrian Holloway, it's comulsive reading.

You need to concentrate on reality. It's what's important right now. Life is short, don't spend it being frightened or day dreaming. Live it to the full. As for heaven, you'll find out if that happens or not when you're dead. I personally believe in reincarnation.

Faith is a wonderful thing that probably keeps most of us going in this troubled world of ours. I am almost 70 years old and nearing the end of my life and I can honestly say that I now believe when you die, that's the end. No heaven or hell of in between to worry about, you die and return to earth's ashes with no souls drifting off into space to later return as a great world leader or a skid row bum. I have seen to much in my life time to believe anything else happens to us once we die.

Than Make a decision The most impotant decision in your life. Would you accept the Lord as you personal saviour and have a personal relationship with Jesus if so accept him tell him you need him more than anything and then never question again wether you'll go to heaven or hell, but we fight for salvation Daily remeber that to repent your sin is meaning to change your ways renew your mind to be like Christ To be like no one else now because in the futture True christians will be like no one else than.

It is a scary thought but when we die we will either go to Heaven or Hell. Whether we go there straight away or wait until judgement day before we go anywhere I am not sure but the fact is that at some stage we will be judged and this will determine where we spend eternity. I know where I want to go!!!
