I was very confused when I was young, but no more. I don't claim that I know the answer. But I have a gone a long way searching for the truth.
Years ago I wrote a short book answering the basic questions of existence. Read it at the following link. Hope that will help you.

You know you are young. Are you suppose to know who you are and what you are and what you want to be. College is all part of that. You have an opportunity before you to find out just what direction you want to go. You can start by just going to school. You need not make up your mind what it is that you want to do. for in the first two years you must take core courses, those that are required and thus you have plenty of time to focus on what it is that you would like to do or find a pathway to another idea of which you might explore.
Stay the course of your deep character and don't get involved in situations that you are totally unfamiliar with and know to be not of your liking. My two kids did not know what they were going to be doing when they entered college either.
My son, wondered around in college for almost 6 years, getting finally a degree in Environmental Geo. and is now a top producer for real estate in Washington state.
My daughter swam for Texas, she knew nothing more than swimming, and got a degree in business and has helped her husband start two businesses.
Give yourself a break, you will grow and the direction of which you want to take will come to you as you make choices.
Don't be too hard on yourself.

I was the same way actually before I went to college and for most of the time during college. Toward the end of my college career, I married my high school sweetheart. A year later I divorece and moved in with my very free spirited brother. I learned that life is about constant change and that just when you think you have figured yourself out, life changes on you again. Don't worry about the details. Do what makes you feel good now and when it stops feeling good switch up!

Oh, I had the same problem when I was a pup. It's cool, although I'm sure You don't feel that way right now. So look, just act the fool or stay cool any chance you get, later when Your a professional whatever You'll not have the chance to get away with it. Being unique is a gift, not a curse; but You have to get comfortable with it; sort of like with a new pair of shoes or a favorite pair of jeans. Any one doesn't like it, well screw them; most of the People Your going to meet are dick heads anyway! It's Your life!!!! Go get them Tiger!

A possible way for you to choose a good career is to find out what your mind is adept at. There are personality tests, you can take these and they may help you discover this, called Myers-Briggs or Jung Personality tests. When taking the test there is no right or wrong answer, only put what you feel is right.

I've through a couple of these myself. My advice: start exploring your world. Meet people. You will find that the more people you relate with, the better off your world is going to get.
Read some philosophy books as well. I might suggest "The Wisdom of Insecurity" by Alan Watts.
In the end: the only way to find yourself is to start looking. Hope that helps.

Rather scary to be lost, to not know who you are or where you are going rest assured you are not alone. To be out of touch with the true reality is the definition of insane. I will tell you the truth.
-You are a child of God and He loves you so very much. Know that, live that, love that with your whole heart mind and strength.
-Your reason for living is to know, love and serve God. If you can do that everything will fall into place.
-Your destination or where you are going is to go to Heaven
Live this way and I assure you will be blessed with a life that will astonish you. In any endeavour keep this in mind and let God raise you up and do not make God into what you want Him to be but allow Him make you what you ought to be.

No, i won't say I even have been feeling that way. notwithstanding from this question plainly that i'm between the few who have not had an identity disaster of a few form. i did no longer know it grew to become into that worry-unfastened a issue. besides, i admire the poem, Goldfish. to respond to your genuine question, confident, I do act like particular characters after analyzing their books. After Harry Potter, i needed, like each and every physique else, to be like Hermione. I studied greater usually, I spoke in a crappy British accessory, and that i even went so some distance as to repeatedly boss my acquaintances around. Thank goodness that section ended. I study Huckleberry Finn, and started to speak purely like Huck. I reported "I reckon" lots. a minimum of my southern accessory grew to become into greater desirable than my British accessory. Then I study One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It happens in a psychological asylum. i will permit you artwork out how properly my impersonations of those characters went. hint: i began chatting with myself. lots. finally, maximum at present I study long previous with the Wind. i began appearing like Scarlett O'Hara. i did no longer even comprehend i grew to become into doing it earlier each and every thing. yet I had her satisfaction, her spoiled recommendations-set, and a fabulous style of different traits i could fairly no longer have had. I take on the personalities of many of the characters I study. i'm purely happy it particularly is in no way everlasting.

Gods plan for you not your own. repent, pray and seek what God wants from you and your life. Pray for Gods will to be done and not your own. The will of the flesh is that of the antichrist. Walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. It is the only way to joy, peace and serenity.
