It's for a German Ice Cream Cake and it is my project to make it and I was wondering if instead of using meringue I could use ice cream and it still work and taste good

Merinque is light and airy, I don't think ice cream would be a good substitute.
It's not hard to make.
I don't think it would taste bad if you used ice cream (it is ice cream for goodness sake), but I think the texture and overall dish will be different than the intended recipe.

It would not work, ice cream and meringue are very different textures. All it takes to make meringue is to beat egg whites with a little cream of tartar. Plus if you used ice cream it would melt.

No, meringue is just egg whites and can hold in room temperature, ice cream is totally different, you have to be in a walk in cooler to work in it and it wouldn't hold together

It might work if it is served immediately, If not,it might be better to use whipped cream or cool whip. Although, making a meringue isn't hard, and only takes a few minutes.
