To straighten your hair your probably using an appliance that uses heat correct? A brush and a hot blow dryer or an iron of some type that uses heat to set the hair? Then the answer is yes, heat does damage to hair, it dries the hair out over time. You'll need to give your hair a little extra TLC use good products (salon quality) a little extra deep conditioning once in a while (once a week or at least every two weeks) and make sure the appliances you use are good and if they seem to be wearing out (plates on a flat iron getting loose or shifting) replace it, a bad flat iron can pull your hair out.

yes it does..but some straightening irons do more damage then others also...a good one will be pricey but it really makes your hair look and feel healthy... I recomend using a ceramic iron like a chi chi, it's a chinese ceramic ironing system that makes the hair feel feathery light and soft.... I would not us anything with gold plates, it depends if you put something like a protective serum over your hair to seal up the cuticle of the ends so they don't become dry brittle and split. I recommend not doing it every day, if you straighten it on a monday you should be good not to wash your hair for 2-4 days, it's not good to wash your hair everyday, never mind straighten it, it's good for your hair to build up natural oils. I don't recommend blow drying either, let it dry naturally then flat iron it. Drying, really does harm your hair..If your hair gets greasy really easy, brush it often and it will spread the oils through your hair..or you can put baby powder in your hair and brush it through and it will make it look clean and also make it smell fresh.
good luck:)

I think it depends on what you use to straighten your hair. Many stylist say that using a Chi Iron regularly won't harm your hair because it is ceramic but using a cheaper metal flat iron will eventually harm your hair.

yes it does. If u are straightening it everyday I would suggest u treat your mane to a deep leave-in conditioner on the week-ends. If u don't u will soon see your hair looking and feeling very dry. Especially in the winter months, they're the worst

Yes, but you can prevent a lot of the damage by using protective products like Matrix Straight products or Sexy Hair products or many others. They provide ingredients that protect the hair for extreme heat. Make sure your hair is dry (not even damp) when you use an iron.

I would'nt say harm it, but yes It does do quite the damage. Use a deep conditioner for dry damaged hair and put hot oil treatments on it frequently. You can buy both for a few dollars at wal-mart. (another tip- when you hair starts to get dull or if you get alot of shampoo buildup and its starts to weigh it down, pour straight rubbing alcohol on dry hair and comb it through your whole hair until your hair is comptely wet, then just let it dry, dont wash it out. It will make your hair soft and shiny)

yes! you should always use a hair serum like CHI or BioSilk in your hair BEFORE you straighten it, that way the straightener burns that off rather than the natural oils of your hair.

Yes it does. Use products that protect your hair while straightning it. Like Therma-silk products. They put an extra layer of protection between your hair and the iron. They also leave your hair all silky and soft. At least it leaves my hair that way.
try it!!
