I find it horrifying the amount of lies that Ted Haggard stated in that video. He clearly does not understand the theory of evolution, and the problem is that many people look up to him and take what he says as being passed down from God. In their minds, it's a war between God and the scientists, and this frame has been given to them by evangelicals like Ted Haggard.

I don't understand how texascrazyhorse can say 'I don't agree with Richard Dawkins' (except for the obvious explanation, which is that he's from Texas, Bible Belt central). Everything Dawkins claims has been forged through the scientific method; it was built off evidence and then placed before skeptics who attempted to disprove it. What we are left with is the theory of evolution today. If you 'don't agree' with it, then you should not agree with modern medicine, or any of the technological wonders we have. You should never visit a hospital; you should pray that God heals you. Good luck.

1. It's funny watching this, knowing now who he is.

2. Haggard is a willfully ignorant idiot.

3. Long before watching this, I determined that Richard Dawkins is a radical on the level of an atheist Michael Moore. He says some things that are great and some things that are way over the top. This clip seems to be him at his best.

Dawkins rules, Haggard drools.

Haggard is a typical narcissistic sociopath, like the rest of the TV Evangelists. Most of us know, also, that homophobes usually have homosexual secrets. I really don't care what he put up his nose, who he was doing nor which way he was doing it; he took down innocent family members and that's where the "immorality" lies. He can't heal unless he acknowleges where the real harm was done (and he's too far gone, anyway). The only thing that pisses me off is that so many people are surprised. Ignorance fuels danger.

For all the condemnation and destruction that this man's ministry did to people, he should be tried right alongside Saddam for "crimes against humanity."

I think Ted Haggard is typical of the hypocritical evangelical movement in this country. And it frightens me that they are so closed-minded and judgmental.

Believing in the FACT of evolution in no way precludes belief in God.

As for Dawkins---he is a bright, well-educated and articulate man.

I don't agree with all of Richard Dawkins arguements. I have met the man and chatted with him in person. He is intelligent, affable, and honest. He's no hypocrit - even if you are an atheist it can be hard to admit because atheists who "come out" are often persecuted. He's a brave, honest man, even if you disagree with him.

Haggard, on the other hand, is the worst kind of hypocrit. He rails against gays and druggies all the while engaging in that kind of behavior. That is cynical and dishonest....and not in the spirit of the Chirst-like life.

Interesting video. (And I do find it funny saying "That changes nothing"--that's a point Dawkins actually makes in the video...)

"I believe in Jesus and the Bible. This changes nothing."

Yeah, except the fact that it adds to the mountain of evidence that christianity is a hypocritical religion of oppression and denial.

Haggard is just another depraved scumbag who made a career of projecting his own self-hatred on to an entire class of people, while slithering around in the darkness committing the very "sins" he was rallying against.

We've seen this again and again and again. How many GOP politicians have either been outed themselves, or have had to dodge embarrassing questions regarding their homosexual relatives, while conducting campaigns which callously exploit the popular bigotry against gay people for political gain? And we see what real atrocities this "lifestyle" leads them to commit simply to indulge their "secret vice" - Jim West offering teen boys on gay.com job opportunities in exchange for sex, Mark Foley with his sleazy IMs to teen male pages, Haggard with his stealth drug buys and male hooker escapades...all while persecuting openly gay people for being honest with themselves and everybody else rather than plumbing the depths in shame, as they do!

Neither changes my mind. I believe in Jesus and the Bible. Haggard's fall, and Dawkins' babble, won't change what I believe.
