I started this new "diet" where I eat regular, healthy foods such as salads, meat, fruits & vegetables, etc. and have tried to totally cut out junk foods (mainly SUGAR). I eat my meals but they don't seem very filling to me and I find myself hungry again shortly after. Does anyone have any recommendations on what foods make you feel full or at least reduce your appetite? THANK YOU!

Hunger comes from carbs.

Skip the fruit for a few days and you'll see the difference. This is why low carb diets don't allow fruit at the beginning.

One thing to remember is to drink plenty of water. Sometimes our bodies confuse us by making us think we are hungry when we are really just thirsty. Snacking is ok and some foods you can snack with out throwing your diet out the window is Celery, (actually it takes more energy to burn the calories from celery than you are taking in, that's plain celery no toppings etc.) Apples,
Oranges, a handfull of wal-nuts, cottage cheese.
To help you from feeling hungry after a meal, drink a glass of water before the meal to help with feeling full.
I have to interject here that the word "diet" is so mis-used.
Following the the health guide that the government puts out is quite accurate, but it's in moderation that people should think about when eating and knowing what a serving size is. Another surprising problem is dishware people use to put their food on. Mostly we have been taught that the big dinner plate is what we should use to "carry" our meals, but really do we need all that food in one sitting? Start using you side plates or small plates to put main meals on and leave space between each item as this enough food to sustain you for a couple of hours before you should need to have a snack.
E-mail me if you have any more questions.

I think part of it is that your body was accustomed to more sugary and fatty foods. When I am eating healthy, whole foods and add a lot of veggies, I do feel more hungry at first. When I add legumes and whole grains, after a few days, your gut remains more full and sends fewer signals to the stomach/brain to add more food. Stick with it and your body will adjust.

Hi! the best foods to help you feel full is those with protein, protein controls hunger. You can also purchase protein powder at you local health store and put it in drinks and foods to keep you more satisfied and full. Keep on eating lots of fruits and vegetables and stay away from bread and most dairy products.
Try different salad dressing to change up your options, but try to stick to light dressings. Also try limiting your meat intake to 4-8oz a day, only chicken, turkey, or tuna. Red meats are high in fat and bad for your heart. If you are going to eat chicken, turkey, or tuna, only eat it baked, broiled, boiled, roasted, etc... not fried. My doctor put me on a good diet. In the morning eat 1/2 cup of any kind of oatmeal and 1/2 cup nonfat yogurt, and any fruits except bananas, mangos, and grapes. These 3 tend to have the highest sugar content. For lunch eat a salad with any vegetables, light dressing, and 4 oz of chicken, turkey, or tuna. or eat a tuna salad with light mayo and any vegetables mixed in and one hardboiled egg in it, if preferred. For dinner eat another salad, with the 4 oz of meat, or try 4oz of meat with any vegetables as a side and any fruit, except the 3 mentioned, also for snacks try soy snacks and 98 percent fat free popcorn. Drink lots of water, and limit your caffeine. Also, i found ocean spray makes a good light grapefruit juice. You can drink 4-8 oz a day, it helps burn fat., or eat one grapefruit a day with any sweetner like splenda or sweet and low, etc... alot of websites have good low fat recipes, you can try kraft, prevention, and weight watchers. I hope I could help you.

Eat a lot of protein it keeps you full longer and do eat fruits. You dont gain weight from eating protein like chicken or fish and it also give u a lot of energy. Egg whites are very good in the morning, its very important not to skip breakfast. I lost 35 lbs myself doing this. Dont forget to excercise to boost your metabolism.

Proteins and fats are more satisfying. That's why people who go on a strict low-carb diet naturally eat less calories than those on a high-carb/low-fat one.

If you are truly hungry, eat. Forcing yourself to go hungry will only result in you binging on junk. You should be satisfied, but not stuffed.

Proteins. If you want to stay full while cutting fat, try lean meats such as chicken and fish, if not, eat any meat.

Try whole grains, or fruits and veggies, a simple apple keeps me full for up to three-four hours. otherwise get some healthy wheat or rye bread, I do that too. and I have lost 20 lbs the past few months (went from 130 to currently 110 and I am 5'1)
