how long does a k1 visa take to process,if my fiance is an american citizen and i am australia,once he applies for the visa,how long do i have to wait before i can come to the states and get married?

It depends on where he lives. The processing time is different for each Immigration Processing Center. He must file with the center assigned to his area.
Once they process it the petition will be sent to the embassy or consulate he picked down in Oz. They will forward you a package of forms and instructions. After you submit everything back to the embassy or consulate they will process it and call you for an interview.
If both you and your fiance complete the paperwork correctly, and there are no problems with your physical exam or police clearance, you should get the visa about 6 months after he first files.

If the K1 visa has been filed in California (CSC), then it will approximately take 8-10 months before your fiance will get her visa. If the K1 has been filed in Vermont (VSC), then it will most likely take about 4-6 months before your fiance will get her visa. She is allowed to go to the US even while waiting on her K1 visa, she can stay for the total of 90 days as mentioned in the tourist visa or visa waiver (not sure if Japan is allowed under visa waiver) unless immigration decides otherwise upon entry of the US (they dont always do it but, they can give a shorter stay with the i94 if they feel like it). A small advice would be to make sure that she brings proof of her ties to her homecountry, such as a copy of her rental contract (or mortgage contract), phonebills, a letter from her employer that she is expected to come back at a certain date and those kinds of proof. It would be smart for her to take these with her as they most likely will ask for proof of her return as she is registrated in the immigration computer and they might think she wont go back to her home country when there is not enough proof.

I am from Canada and I am also waiting for my K1 Visa applicatin to go through.
We were told anywhere from 4 - 6 monthes.
Once you receive the Visa you have to marry within 90 days of going to the USA.
Good Luck to you. I cross my fingers for mine to go through shortly too.
