I strongly believe in shelters and humane societies. There are so many animals that need good homes that would be great family dogs. I have never bought a dog from a pet store or breeder because of that. And I am sure if you can't find a Cocker Spaniel that your daughter will find another dog that she will be very happy with. Good Luck

Well, I would look in your local paper and see if any are in there and I would also check out your local humane society and animal shelters. Most humane society dogs run from around 50 to 250 dollars all depending on breed and age.And shelters sometimes have purebreeds. Also see if there are any cocker spaniel rescues around your area.

Go to the Humane Society in your town. You may or may not be able to find a Cocker Spaniel or a mix of one but you can find some darling dogs that need homes.
Cocker rescue is another source:

i am so sorry for your loss. if money is tight, how about going to a shelter. you may find a cocker there. or a mixed dog that she can love. take her with you of course and the people there can help you pick a kid safe pet. and you'll be rescuing a dog for the holidays.
even though i prefer the large and giant breeds, i've had 2 cocker - poddle mixes that were fantastic little dogs. they weren't yappy, didn't shed, and weren't nippy. i think the cocker/mixes are the best little dogs for kids.

I did this so, I know it can work. My son wanted a Beagle and I couldn't at the time afford one either so, I called the local breeders and explained that I really only wanted one for my son as a pet only( I promised sincerely and I meant it that we would not breed, show or register the dog) and that I just couldn't afford to spend that amount of money on a dog, but that my son really wanted one. They may either consider giving you one or selling you one at a reduced price. Sometimes they have dogs they can't sell as they usually like to have them all sold by 9 weeks old or sometimes they have to many say freckles to be a show dog so they will consider giving them away. I had to agree not to have ours registered as I was only getting it for a pet not a show dog or breeding dog, but I found a wonderful, caring lady who kindly gave my son a pure bred Beagle and even graciously let him pick it out. Just give it a try. Hope it works for you and your little girl.

Try your local ASPCA or SPCA. If they don't have a Cocker Spaniel, they may have another dog your daughter will fall in love with. Also, there are many public dog shelters in most cities. Please adopt a dog, he or she needs a warm and loving home.

You might try looking at your local pound they have all kinds of dogs and you can get them cheap. They already have their shots usually so you'll just have to go back for annual checkups.

Your local animal shelter. If they don't have any currently, you can ask t hem to give you a call when they do get a suitable pet.
