What do peolple always expect you to bring at gatherings, what makes it so special and how is it prepared? I'm pretty confident in my banana pudding, but I'm not sure if it could be my "signature dish". Any ideas?

You make a really good point. I had a difficult upbringing so I can’t tell you when I last loved everyone as a child…I am a forgiving kind of person, I learned a long time ago to forgive and forget. I could not have survived without being able to do that. A year ago I had a conversation with a pastor (licensed minister)…he made me feel very small about a comment I made regarding how I hear the Lord talk to me… His reply literally took me to my knees. He told me I was hearing Satan talk to me… His view of my kind of love for people was “sugar coated”, that I wasn’t much of a Christian…I explained I could uphold the rules of God and still love people…he was all about hell, fire and brimstone and I’m more about the Kingdom. The first thing I did was get my Devotional Bible and asked the Lord if I was wrong...as I usually do I pray and talk with the Lord and ask for his instructions, I opened my devotional to: Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus said : John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. This doesn’t dismiss us from teaching the gospels or the punishment…but I think it should be our first guide line in how we do it As a parent I found I have unconditional love for my Children… but my children have had (at times) conditional love for me … Do we approach God with conditional or unconditional love? God bless you, Faith

Salsa Dip - I get family calling to invite us to parties and requesting that I bring. I don't always yes, this way the appeal is always there.
2 - 8 oz - pkgs of cream cheese, room temperature (you can use regular or reduced fat, but I wouldn't use fat free as it doesn't melt into the dish.
1 to 1 1/2 lbs ground meat, cooked with taco seasoning or use your favorites (I use chili powder, cumin, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, cilantro, onion and garlic and I throw some salsa into it as well
salsa, homemade or your favorite bottle, you will need at least 4 cups
shredded cheddar cheese

Get one of those throw away rectangular foil pans (I think it's 9 x 13, but I cant remember for sure)
Spread the 2 pkgs of cream cheese on the bottom of the pan, leaving a 1 inch margin around the edge
Pour the cook ground meat over the cream cheese
Pour the salsa over the ground meat

If you are cooking all the same day, sprinkle the cheese and bake at 350 degrees until cheese melts and dish is bubbling

If you are preparing ahead and cooking from frozen or cold state, bake at 350 degrees until heated through then sprinkle on cheese and allow to melt.

Make sure you have plenty of tortilla chips. I have even used flour tortillas and made a little burrito with this stuff by adding some black beans to it.

I'll tell you, I need to make this stuff in bulk and I make a tray for one of my sister-in-laws that she can make again, because you can't get enough of this stuff. It freezes well and lasts at least 3 months in freezer without impact flavor, quality.

My family loves it when I bring my chicken fried rice. Chicken is done up in my favorite sauce, rice is fried with 3 different sauces. I always put little flecks of bacon (real bacon, not bacon bits) and of course there's your regular green and red peppers and onions. Mix together in a wok, cook until mixed in all together and soy sauce as well as other sauces are mixed in. Throw in some crushed garlic and ta da!! Chicken Fried Rice. I get asked to make this every Christmas and for all family picnics. Not much a picnic kind of food, but everyone loves it and it's cheap to make.

Then for dessert I bring smartie cookies and whoopie pies for the kids.
