Just got a cold sore this morning. It's the first one I've had in years. I used to use Zilactin which created a gross film over the sore and made it look worse than it was (although to be totally honest, a cold sore always looks terrible). This time, I bought a tube of Abreva. It was twice the price of the other creams and I'm skeptical that any of the creams ever do anything... but at least it doesn't form a film and it rubs in clear. Thoughts?

Best cold sore medication is Zovirax cream but you need a prescription. A cold sore is really Herpes I and Acyclovir is the active ingredient in Zovirax. Zovirax will clear a cold sore up in no time flat.

I've always used Blisteze...no problems, it seemed to work for me as a preventative too...you only need a little.

despite it's cost the abreeva works best. Use it exactly as it states on the package.
