this is whats going on... I have liked this boy since the first day of school and so did my best friend. I told the boy i liked hima and I wanted to get to know him better. He said he would think about. My best friend found out that I told him and she is trying to fight me for him. I told her that a boy is not worth fighting over because boys will come and go but friendship is forever. Did I say the right thing to put things right? or did I make a mistake by telling the boy i like him?

You did the right thing. It's not worth losing a friendship b/c of a boy. You didn't make a mistake telling the boy you liked him b/c you were being truthful and if your best friend wanted him then she should've been a woman about hers and told him as well. If you going with him is going to cause a problem and you really value your friendship then just leave the boy alone, its not worth all that. Maybe you and your friend should make a pact that this guy is off limits, or just let him decide who he'd like to be with and not hold a grudge against the other person. Either way, don't let this guy that you don't really know ruin your friendship with your best friend. No man is ever worth all that.

You probably shouldn't have told the boy you liked him, but you did tell your friend the right thing, but if she continues to fight then obviously she wasn't that great of a friend to begin with. If that happens just cut your losses and find a better friend.

What you said is good. You had every right to tell the boy it is not her boyfriend so you were not crossing any lines. It is not her choice to fight over him because he might not like her and like you or vice versa. He is the one that will have to make that decision. I would not fight her over this boy it is not worth it.

You said the right thing to her.
And if she is going to let a boy ruin your friendship,
then forget her.

My "best" friend is doing the same thing to me, only she is dating some guy, and is pushing all of ther friends away.

So yeah.

Thats what I say.

You did the right thing. I don't think exclusive dating is for high school anyway. Get to know lots of guys, let him go out with you and your friend. When you get older, then you'll be ready for exclusive relationships because you'll know what to look for in a guy.

Good call. I'd really have to question the loyalty of the friend though.

it's good you put your friendship first. but, knowing she liked him too, maybe you should have talked to her about talking to him before you did it. we girls can be very competitive. i hope she puts your friendship first too.
