I know someone who's eleven. He has no dad. His younger sister's father's parents love all of them to death but the father only dotes on the youngest kid.

The third youngest kid, Z, has a dad. That's who they're living with now.

Now there's a baby on the way (from Z's dad.)

How can I help my friend fit in with his family when he has no father?

I think you're a wonderful person to care so much for your friend. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to change his family situation. If the people he's living with don't care for him, it is very sad, but no one can do something about it exept the people themself. Tell your friend just to do his best, to be friendly and helpful and who knows perhaps they will start caring for him.

In the mean time he is very lucky to have you for a friend. So, if he is unhappy at home, just go on being the caring friend you already are. It will mean so much for him. Good luck.

He should be respectful to his guardians anyway, and not be a problem child. At the same time he needs a father figure, which he can maybe get by joining some kind of after school program or sports or church, or maybe your dad can hang with him a bit.
