He's testing the waters!

I've always thought it was funny (and sort of embarrassing) when people say "I think I love you." How long have you been together? If it hasn't been too long, he may be afraid of telling you straight out that he loves you, because he might think that it's too soon and it would freak you out. I'm sure he just wants you to know that you're really important to him and that he sees this lasting a very long time. Be flattered, and when you feel the time is right, maybe you should tell him "I love you" (not "I think I love you"). Guys can be weird (trust me, I've been with my boyfriend for almost six years), so sometimes you have to deal with weird things they say or do. Don't try to overanalyze it. If he didn't love you, he wouldn't have said anything to begin with.

As a guy this seems to be his way of maybe "testing the water" have you told him you love him? If not he may be looking to see how you react. it is possible that he is scared that he doesn't want to scare you away by pronouncing his undying love for you right away.
If you have told him in the past it may simply mean that he is starting to realise that he loves you and that his feelings are stronger and wants you to know.
It is a good thing and i hope that you both have a long and happy relationship.

It may seem like it should be one or the other to you, but really it's not always that simple for some people. Sometimes when someone is in "new territory", especially when falling in love is concerned, they aren't always completely sure of things or of feelings. At least he's letting you know what he's feeling instead of leading you to believe it's more or just not telling you anything at all. Give him time to come to terms with what he feels and then he will be able to express it to you in a way that is not so vague. I think you should be happy, sounds like he really cares for you.

Maybe he's a bit uncomfortable saying it and was also testing the water. He probably felt that telling you he thinks he's falling in love with you wouldn't sound so scary to you if you don't feel the same way. I guess that way there wasn't such a high risk of crashing and burning!!!

Why wouldnt he love you? I would definatly take this as a compliment even if you dont love him back! Dont say you love him back unless you are ready to. If you dont want to say it, tell him "i'm not ready to say it yet, i want to say it when i know fully that you are the one" or something to that sort. If he loves you, that means he has very strong feelings for you in a romantic and passoinate way (which is very beautiful) but you sound a little too young to really know what the concept of love is. This kid MIGHT love you, but you definatly dont love him back if you dont even understand what "i love you" means. so dont say it to him! good luck!

When you guys started going out you should know that he didn't "love" you, he did like you however...over time he was grown more fond of you to that point where he thinks its love. Don't take it in a bad way, if he thinks he loves you be happy even if you have been loving him long before he told you that....At least he told you right? i mean how many couples actually tell their partner, "i love you", most couples dont feel like they have to say it, they just show it to them.....

Some people are a bit usure of the feelings of love, especially if they've never been in love before.

But it's more likely he's just saying he "thinks" he loves you incase you don't love him back and you break up. This way he can deny he really did love you, to you and himself. His way of making the most of the relationship without setting himself to get his heart broken.

whats a bloke to do eh? he says he thinks he loves you n you get all skittish on him. so the blokes getting used to expressing his feelings for you n you start to worry bout what it means. ok so its not the simple bloke thing of "you going down the pub love?" statment that can get a streight yes or no answer is it? its obviously not something he's used to saying so give it time n see where it goes. sounds like he'sshifting from lust to love to me though...but just sit back n slowlyguide it along why dont you?

with men you have to read between the lines. He means he is falling in love with you, but scared at the same time, perhaps it is the shock of realisation that he can actually fall in love make it come out wrong. anyway just go with it,perhaps this is the real thing!!

It means he is feeling something that is new and wonderful and he is scared as well as enjoying it... so yeah, he may well be in love, but not recognising it. It does happen.

He may also be unsure of how you feel so he is testng the waters because he really likes you and does not want to get hurt.
