I love Prozac! I can not live without out. I was told to stay on Prozac for nine months as well. This drug works good, well before the ninth month, with me anyway. I guess that is when you will get the complete effect of it. The only thing I did not and do not like (the one that sticks out in my mind the most that is) is the lack of sex drive. That is a bummer. I have been on it now for 15yrs. I tried to ween myself off a couple of times with my Doctors awareness but I would start to go down hill after a month or so. So back on it and feeling good again. Guess the other side effects were not worth remembering or just were not that bad to be burnt in my mind. Good luck.

Dry mouth and a lowered libido were problems my husband experienced at first. He has been on prozac for quite some time for chronic depression but we have been able to work around the side effects and the benefits have more than made up for the side effects.
Once you start taking it it takes several weeks for the full benefits to be noticed and when you stop, you cannot stop cold turkey, you have to wean off slowly or the side effects will be very bothersome.

I had heartburn while on Prozac and it does have nausea as a s/e so if could very well be from that, an increase in stomach acid, give it a few more weeks and this should subside, also take with a meal or snack
