I am on risperdal and prozac, my memory is shot and I cant focus on anything. it has affected my job adn home life, my wife says I get these dazed looks on my face, my buddies at work tell me I always slur my speech and my boss has told me some clients arr complaining that I dont even seem to be paying attention to them when they talk to me. I of course do not see any of this and thought I was acting normal the whole time. I went back to the shrink and told him of these issues and he said lay low at work and keep on taking what you are taking. two more talks from my boss again got me scared (he now knows I am on meds and so does everyone else ) anyways asked a friend that I knew had problems and he said that his DR gave him ritalin and this gave him his focus back. I bought some ( without prescription ) and tried them. they worked great. I wenback to the shrink and told him what I did and he said that was the worst drug I could have taken, he said just to stay what I am on. help?

First things first, maybe get a second opinion you know your body best. Are you being medicated for just depression, perhaps you have ADHD and the ritalion helps for you to slow down and focus. See another mental health specialist and explain to him what is going on; that this interuppting your day to day activities. You also need to ask yourself if there is an improvement prior to being medicated. How was your mental state originally? It couldn't hurt to speak to someone else. Maybe there is a reason the doctor has you on this, and it may take a while for your body to adjust. If you newly started this, then it may take up to 6 weeks for your body to comprehend and deal with the full correct effects. But, like i said if you are doubting yourself get a second opinion what do you have to loose.

What the heck is your diagnosis? Could be the Risperdal making you zone out. It does that to me...but after a while you get past all that. Give it at least a month or so before making or demanding changes.

Ritalin is useless to you unless you have ADAH or something. You might as well just buy some speed or cocaine off the street if you are looking for an up. Listen to your doctor - - or get a new one - - but listen to an M.D. or PhD., not your friends or people on Answers.

If I were you I would seek out another Doctor, only if you have been with this one for six months or longer that is. This is normal. Alot of people need to meet different Doctors before they feel like they are on the same wave length and want to stay with them because they are making them feel BETTER! You should never take a drug like that (ritilin.) That is like cocaine. You do not need another problem. You should not have to walk around the way you are either. The drugs you are on now are not the right ones for your chemistry (depending on how long you have been on them.) People should not know you are medicated to that extent if they are the right meds for you. Look into getting another Doctor. Really...

I don't know your mental health issues, but if you are not suicidal or have a mental disorder that necessitates meds, I suggest you rethink why you are on these drugs in the first place.

Antidepressants are meant for those unable to deal with life, and are to be used for a short time if all else fails (like talk therapy, behavior modification, biofeedback, etc.) unless you have a serious disorder. This shrink is nothing but a pill pusher, dump him. Find someone who cares about you getting on the right track without drugs if possible. If you really require meds, make sure you get someone who is willing to work with you on the right ones.

We live in a time when antidepressants are doled out like candy and that is dangerous. Be smart, seek out a therapist that will wein you off of this junk and deal with your problems with talk therapy and natural suppliments coupled with a good healthy diet and exercise. Be smart, take control of your life, don't leave it in the hands of someone who doesn't care.

this is largely a terrible and unsafe thought sorry. Prozac could decrease each and every of the effects of MDMA (Serotonin Syndrome isn't an argument with MDMA and SSRIs, have faith me). Risperdal will additionally attenuate each and every of the effects of MDMA because is an anti-psychotic. From a pharmacological factor-of-view, this is an exercising in futility, because of the fact you're unlikely to experience any constructive outcomes of MDMA. additionally, in case you have any style of psychiatric themes, taking MDMA is fiddling with fireplace. Please do no longer. you will possibly no longer die, yet this could dramatically worsen regardless of you're plagued by (ocd, panic assaults) or maybe worse. EDIT: Please remember too that oft cases "Ecstasy" pills do no longer contain MDMA yet different drugs like DXM or Ketamine. in the experience that your ecstasy pill includes DXM and you combine it with Prozac, you need to o.k. die from a threat Serotonin Syndrome.
