1 Corinthians 13:12 (The Message)
We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

For now (before the Resurrection) We see through a glass, darkly (can only see the dim outline); but then (after the Resurrection) face to face (we can look and see openly and clearly): now I know in part (have some knowledge); but then shall I know even as also I am known (then everything will be perfect and complete)

It's part of a complicated teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, that God can not be fully known in life (i think it's exclusive to the Catholic church might be wrong though). That's it in a nutshell but i'm sorry i cannot give you any name of the doctrine you could put in a search engine, but i vaguely remember this story of a Saint (whose name i can't remember):

The story goes that said Saint was in doubt about his faith, he was in despair because he couldn't understand God, he prayed for a long period of time and one day when he was walking along the shore he saw a kid dig a hole on the beach. When asked what he was doing the kid replied that he was trying to drain the sea into that hole. So then a revelation came upon our Saint and he realized that he was just like that kid, when trying to understand the vast and unending nature of an almighty being. Indeed the sea would occasionally run into the hole and fill it completely with water but the sea was still there, so is God too, he reveals as much as we can understand but there's more. After death, we will see more clearly.

Now, I might've told that story completely wrong but i hope i got the point across...

It's important to put this verse into context; see verses 8-10. Paul writes that we are now in a time where we are separated from God and don't know the complete truth. Although we may prophesy or speak in tongues, we still don't have all the knowledge.

As such, we are metaphoric "children." Some day, "that which is perfect" will come, meaning we'll be with God in Heaven. At that time, we'll know Him just as well as He knows us (verse 12b). When we know God fully, we'll no longer have any need to prophesy or speak in tongues. We'll know all the answers to all, not just some, of God's mysteries.

Verse 12 further emphasizes the fact that we can't see all of God's mysteries, because it's like looking in a faulty mirror: you can see some things, but not all.

I hope this helps. Peace.

13:11 When I was a child, I made use of a child's language, I had a child's feelings and a child's thoughts: now that I am a man, I have put away the things of a child.
13:12 For now we see things in a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now my knowledge is in part; then it will be complete, even as God's knowledge of me.
13:13 But now we still have faith, hope, love, these three; and the greatest of these is love.

No context. Sounds like it's commenting on how little man sees even through a transparent concept. It also sounds like it comparing our view of the concept to the way we are viewed by others: incomplete, darkly.

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
NIV translation

What we're experiencing now is nothing compared to Heaven.

Friend, right now we see the pomises of God through our faith, We can not comprehend what heaven will be like, So now we have to take our faith & trust God, & when He comes Back for his Bride then will shall see him face to face, but right now we can only see heaven to a certain point, But then shall we see him eye to eye, We will no longer have to know in part or see in part because we will see God's glory & we shall not to have to live by faith then.

While on Earth we see a part of the life that is seen by those in Heaven. But once we reach Heaven, then we shall see as they.

It means we aren't perfect. Prophesy is like tunnel vision.
We don't see exactly what Spirit is trying to show us.
Symbology is the Universal language. It's never wrong. It's the way we interpret them that is often in error.
