I am currently using 2 triple7 pellets and a Barnes 300gr X bullet with a Winchester 209
primer. I would like to duplicate that load but
use smokless non-corrosive powder.

thanks for the suggestion charles b.
unlike you, you idiot i can read. i did not
ask for advice on safety issues i asked
if there was any load data available. Savage arms has developed a muzzleloader designed for modern smokless powder. the Remington 700ML
action is stronger than the Savage, and
can easily handle the pressure load. You
are probably a lawyer on retainer by Remington arms.

Bound's hubby here:

While I agree that the Remington has a better action than the Savage, the Remington (or any other blackpowder rifle) is not built to withstand, or proof to withstand, the pressures generated by smokeless powder. The ignition and burning qualities of black powder and smokeless powder are quite different. To attempt to fire smokeless powder in any firearm designated as a blackpowder muzzle loading rifle is to court disaster.

You might want to read the print on your muzzleloader. Most do not allow for the increased pressure with smokeless powder. I prefer 100 grains of 777 myself in a loose powder over the pellets. More consistent velocity and great accuracy.

I read Charles B.'s answer to your question and it was good sound advice offered in a spirit of helpfulness. I, too, might have answered in a similar fashion. After reading your tirade about his answer, I can only conclude that you have chosen wisely your on line name. Bullet Head fits you.
