Is ADHD part of your life? yes (ADD, not ADHD)
1. How old are you? 33
2. Male or female? female
3. Were you given tests to determine that you are ADHD? Yes, i was tested by a ADD?ADHD specialist.
4. Are you taking Medication? If not Why? Yes, i am currently taking aderral. It is the best one I have found so far. I was diagnosed at 19, and started with Ritalin, it did nothing, then took Dexedrine for years until adderal was available.
5. Are you working? How Long? I have my BA in Psychology and and MBA. I am a working wife and mother, and have always worked even through my pregnancy when i was not taking medication.
6. Do you think you are different from your peers? I may perceive the world differently, and filter information differently, but is a diabetic different from their peers?
7. Do others seem to learn faster, better, easier then you? No, I actually experience people being slower, and less up front, probably due to the fact that people with ADD fail to notice social cues therefore they tend to be more abrasive to others.
8. Do you think that having ADHD has been harmful in any aspects of your life? It was not harmful, but rather being undiagnosed was harmful. Finally at 19 being told that I wasn't lazy, or stupid gave me the self confidence to reach my goals.

I'm wondering if this is part of a survey. Ah, who cares? :-)

1) 36.44 Earth solar years
2) Biologically male (I let you think about the rest)
3) Nope. The very first time I saw a psychiatrist, she had me diagnosed within a few minutes. Funny that no one else picked up on that.
4) Give ALL information? That might take too long. Suffice to say that I'm taking Strattera 60 mg twice a day, supplemented with Wellbutrin XL 300 mg once daily.
5) Right now, I'm answering this question. :-) However, I am employed full-time, having been at my current position for 6.20 Earth solar years.
6) Most definitely.
7) Unlikely. I routinely score in the 140s on IQ tests and am a member of Mensa, having scored in at least the 98th percentile on their admissions test. I do have some intellectual weaknesses, but I generally am perceived as being on the brighter end of the intelligence scale.
8) I would say yes. I think that before my diagnosis, I've encountered roadblocks that have hindered certain desired goals. I believe that having ADHD made dealing with graduate school very difficult. Three years after diagnosis, I'm still working out a large number of issues from the past.

Hope that helps.
