I don't drink coffee that often-- maybe 3 cups a week. But when I do, I noticed I always have to go to the bathroom a lot (and I mean #2). I also get gassy. It's kind of embarassing when I try to go study at a coffee shop and I have to keep packing up my computer just to go to the bathroom. It's not that I get diarrhea, but I just have these obvious induced bowel movements (sorry to gross anyone out!) that I can tell are from the coffee. I can tell because it happens everytime, like clockwork-- so much so that I would never think of drinking coffee on a long trip or at a place where I would not be able to use a restroom for some time.

Does anyone else experience this? Is there a way around it, so that I can enjoy coffee without it messing around with my digestion?

That's one of the great things about coffee! I make a pot of local roasted coffee every morning and take a crap. Then it's shower time and off to work.

I have the same side effects when I drink coffee, specially strong coffee. I have tried to use decaffeinated coffee, it helps but I don't like the taste.
Well I have studied to live with that. I think this a result of accelerating the metabolism of the body by the caffeine.
I have tasted once a Decaffeinated NESCAFE brand and it was tasty, but still I prefer the natural taste of the coffee with its aroma.

yes, this has happen to a lot of people i have talked to including my self, the only thing i can think of is that the coffee is too strong. the mc donalds and especially starbucks make me go to the bathroom real quick, then my stomach hurts a bit. but when i prepare my coffee at home. it does not happen. you can also try getting it decaf maybe that'll help.

It makes me have to potty alot too. I just figured it was a package deal. I dont think you can change how it affects your digestive system.
