It calls for 1/2 teaspoon of Baking Powder. I don't have baking powder. And no Baking Soda. Is it okay if I go ahead and just omit using the baking powder or will they be ruined?

Baking powder is a dry chemical leavening agent used in baking. Most modern baking powders are double acting, that is, they contain two acid salts, one which reacts at room temperature, producing a rise as soon as the dough or batter is prepared, and another which reacts at a higher temperature, causing a further rise during baking. In order for there to be any "poof" or "rise" in the cookies, you will have to have the baking powder.
Baking soda or soda bicarbonate is primarily used in cooking where it reacts with other components to release carbon dioxide, that helps dough "rise". This might work, but it will not work quite as well as baking powder.

You need baking powder to make the cookies come out right (they won't rise, expand) -and despite the fact that you have none - baking soda won't work. They will be ruined if you omit the baking powder.

Sounds like a quick run to the grocery:
because you can sub the following for baking powder; however there is no sub for baking soda.

1/2 tsp cream of tartar plus 1/4 tsp baking soda

Good luck with the cookies!

Baking powder helps keep the cookies moist and rise. You should not omit the baking powder.

Another alternative, if the recipe calls for water, try to use soda or tonic water, this will give the effect of the baking powder.

Don't omit either they are crucial in the rising and puffing of your cookies.

you will need a leavening agent ...you could use eggs but you will probably need to add some flour and that would be tricky...but you need a leavening agent or they wont come out ...give the ten points to someone else i am not in this for points...
