It depends... If my neighbor were trying to kill people or rape his daughter, I would probably force my morals on him and try and stop him.

Forcing your values on your neighbor is called oppression. It can be called War. It's not good. Not moral. People should be given freedom to learn by their own mistakes. If they are drowning you throw them a life line. If they run back into the water you respect their decision and go on with your life and continue giving help, but to those who express that they want it.

If my Neighbor has the Morals of a wild dog, then I have every right to "Force" my Values on him.

In a Free Society, we still enforce a Moral Value System, it is called,"Laws" !

Force? No. Never. The Gospels, including the moral values given in them by Jesus, are "Good News". That good news is spread purely by our living it out in OUR lives.

My experience as a pastor: Only if people see that we have something "different" - and that "something" is something that they want - they'll ask for it.

That's what love is all about. Free will. God gave it to us, we owe it to our neighbor.

That does not excuse us from living out our values for all to see.

"Force" is never a good thing.

There is only one person in this whole universe who can be influenced and forced by me...and that is my own self

anyone trying to force anything on anyone else except himself is the biggest stupid...and this is what most of the religions are doing

ethnocentricity is the belief that my values should be the values of everyone else. you can try to impart them to another person, but if they don't really believe in each point in your value system, it's impossible to force your beliefs on them.
because we are all human beings, capable of making decisions and forming our own views, i would say trying to force your values on your neighbor is futile. they've already established their morals and ethics. perhaps, by example it is possible, but not by words or demands.

I am a born-again Christian. I discuss my beliefs, and the truth that Jesus Christ died for us to cover our sin with others, including neighbors. However, I do not force my beliefs on anyone. This is wrong, and a true Christian would not do that. I share my beliefs, and invite people to Church or Bible Study, but don't force anything on anyone. Those that do this are not trying to glorify God. God is glorified when you share the Gospel with someone, and He works in their heart to help them to see the truth. When someone drives the Bible down someone's throat and tells them they are going to hell if they don't repent, and hounds them about it, they are trying to glorify themselves by "saving lost souls". No person can save anyone. Only God can save a soul.

No, Jesus did not even force his values on those who held other values. I challenge any one who disagrees with my comment to show me just one passage of scripture where Jesus went to the pagan and forced his views on the unbeliever. I think you will find he stayed within the Jewish religious system and even then those religious leaders he argued with came to him, he never went to them.

Jesus commands was directed at his followers, not non followers.

No, you can only share what they are willing to have. You must live your faith, and all will see. If they have questions, God will give opportunity to answer. Not all neighbors are swine, but keep this in mind if they don't want your faith shoved down their throat:
Matt. 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Matthew 7:6

"Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces."

It seems like a funny thing for Jesus to include on His famous "Sermon on the Mount," but He was the master of picture language and deeper meaning...cryptic nuances that take some thought.

They will know we are Christians by our love.
Force feeding someone the word of God is a waste of time.

peace
