How do i view two mpeg files in the same window?

I'd like to be able to step through two videos by frames in parralel in the same application....

I have tried using VLC, it seems to be extremely basic and does not let me view frame by frame...

I'd give something like VLC a go as you can run multiple copies at once no problem.
