Most people who get hip replacements get them one at a time but I would assume that if both hips are equally bad that a double hip replacement would happen but it doesn't happen often.

I think it all depends on why they need replacing as well. I have rheumatoid and needed them both doing badly but wouldn't have been able to recover from having them both done at once so they were done one at a time.
