anything you drink should be decaf.. i had a huge craving for coke when i was preg.. and my Dr said as long as it was decaf it was not bad (well under moderation) if you are really unsure the best thing is to talk to your Dr. congrats on your preg.

I have a 10 month old and I am an everyday tea drinker... caffeinated that is! When I was pregnant, I definitely cut back on my tea drinking, but I definitely not cut it out. You should weigh out the benefits. When doctors advise you not to have caffeine, they mean in high dosages. But if tea overall just makes you feel relaxed and calm, then by all means, have a cup every now and then. One cup every few days or so shouldnt cause you or the baby any harm. Really, if you do anything in excess its bad for you. But if you are otherwise healthy and taking care of yourself and your little-one-to-be, you should both be totally fine!

All the books say you should try to not have caffeine but if you have to one cup a day is fine. What you need to worry about with tea is the type of tea you drink.
Green Tea isn't good while pregnany, it can dehydrate , it promotes weight loss.
Herbal teas - You never know how your body with all its new hormones will react to some herbs. Some can make your uterus contract and you don;t want that just yet. Ask you doctor which ones to avoid.
Water is best...and lots of it! Best of Luck!

there is no harm in drinking caffeinated products when you are pregnant. Unless of course you are particularly sensitive to caffeine. Also there is a lot of misunderstanding concerning tea and coffee, some people claim it is a diuretic ie it causes you to pee a lot, this is true, tea is a diuretic BUT the amount of liquid you are taking in far exceeds the diuretic properties of the liquid. So at the end of the day any amount of liquid while pregnant is good for you. play no attention to people that go on about tea and coffee being a diuretic.

I always limited myself to 2 caffeinated beverages per day. That includes coffee, tea, Coke, Pepsi, etc. with no adverse effects. I do not drink coffee at all. American tea has only half the caffeine of coffee. Personally I thought the decaf stuff was gross!

with my first pregnancy i had i mean had to have a mocha everyday in order to function, my second pregnancy even the thought of caffeine made me ill, my third pregnancy i drink coffee and tea as I normally would... if you read a lot of stuff on pregnancy you will sooner or later find the answer you want, meaning every body has an opinion... most say to limit the caffeine to two cups a day. I say listen to your body it will tell you what you need!
Congrats
Have a GREAT day!

Yes you can have some tea. I had a cup of coffee everyday when I was pregnant for the second time. It's fine to have a little bit. You'll be fine.

Most OBs tell you to cut back on caffeine, not cut out.
I drank a regular Starbucks mocha every day of each of my pregnancies and cut out caffeinated sodas. I would get severe headaches if I cut out all caffeine.
1 cup of hot tea a day should be fine.

you should be fine drinking a cup of coffee or 2 a day, the only thing it might do is give you a lively baby for a few mins (I am 31 weeks now and get this when I drink coffee). Of course there is always decaff as an alternative.
