I'm not a Christian, I'm an atheist, and I'm saying that church is as safe as anywhere else.
Our society has become quite disturbing with the recent trends of pedophilia and internet scandals, but really, it's been this way since as long as the world has been around.
I think that the reason it seems worse than ever is because the media shows it more than they used to. With shows like Dateline doing specials on pedophiles once a month, politicians not being as slick as they used to, church leaders getting more involved, it's only a natural progression to have the media talking about it every single day.
Going to church is about as safe as going to the grocery store or going to the gas station. You don't know who's in there shopping, who's working there, or who is thinking things that make your skin crawl. I don't go to church because I don't believe in God. However, I wouldn't use the recent track record as an excuse, because if that were the case, I couldn't leave my house.

Church is perfectly safe. I"ve been going to RC church for nearly 22 years now (not counting the 5 years I took off to study Wicca) and nothing ever happened to me. I've met many priests and nuns and been alone with them and I think the media has just hyped everything up. Not ever person reporting abuse was abused. When something comes out like this, really research it. there are people out there who will claim to be a victim of any disaster or scandal just to get money. Not everyone, but a few.

If you are worried about the children, go along with them, or take them to a trusted psychiatrist. No offense, but when was the last time you heard about one taking advantage of a child, let alone adult patient?
And it is safe, to a point. It would be stupid to go to church if you know the others around you were being set on fire (thus setting your life on the line) or if they were being blown up and such.
God won't hold it against you to pray in the safety of your own home. If you are scared about the sex scandals, then just don't go there, just stay at home and make your own home-based Bible-study, or just hold your own family services. Maybe this is a good way for families to become closer together?
And my answer wasn't meant to offend anyone either..

As a Christian myself, I would like to point out that this is representative of what happens when a religous figure becomes larger than life, they forget thier first true love, Jesus. The average pperson may think that all Christian churches have tons of money, the truth is that the average Christian church is near poverty. The majority of preachers are humble men who shy away from the big time evangelistic shows and prefer to remain with a small congregation thats stays close to each other in prayer.

I'm not christian either, but I think it's perfectly safe to go to church. That would be like saying don't put gas in your car because when you go in to pay you're running a risk of getting shot by someone who is robbing the place. Just like anything else, you as an individual should use your judgement, if you don't feel safe, don't do it.

Yes we should But!!!!!!! Know that there are so many false religions today as foretold by Christ and the apostles. These false religions have polluted and prostituted the word of God. There is a parallelism between today’s false religions and the once-great city of Babylon. This Babylon the great was known for raunchiness, prostitution and all kinds of outrageous sins. God destroyed that Babylon and promised not to ever bring it alive. Babylon Today still lies in ruins, near Baghdad in Iraq. All the false religions are jointly called BABYLON THE GREAT, in Revelations and soon God will destroy them. They have misled many children of God.
What does this mean to you and I? Find a religious organization with God’s acceptable form of worship. This form of worship is pure. Recall that the road that leads to destruction are wide. Hence, do not necessarily look at the big and popular churches. The road to eternal life is narrow and very few find that road. Look around in your community and identify that religion that does what Christ ordered: Be in the world but not of the world, have intense love among each other, Make God’s personal name known and more checklist of a true religion which practices the Truth. You can easily make this checklist from the Bible. That religion has to imitate God. It has to imitate Jesus’ ways and practice what he taught.
The reason for joining a body of Christians who has pure worship is justified by the Spiritual admonishments of Hebrew 10:24,25 –“And let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as YOU behold the day drawing near.” Draw close to God and He will draw close to you..James 4:8.

Most of what you are hearing out of the Catholic Church happened years ago.
All other cases are very few and far between, you are statistically more likely to die from a car coming into your living room then you are of being sexually molested by a member of the Ministry.

Yes, it's safe. That kind of thing is just the devil trying to turn us from God and the church. It shouldn't matter what happens, you need to stay strong in God that is not just happening in the church, stuff like that is all over,my friend.

Statistically, you're more likely to get assaulted in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. Parents should work to keep open lines of communication with their children and build a bond of trust so they will feel they're able to tell if someone approaches them and does, or tries to do, something that makes them uncomfortable.

of course it`s safe to go to church, look these men operate under the cloak of darkness(personal sin) you are not likely to be molested in the body of a church, but some other place that these men think is safe from discovery.
