I think you're absolutely correct. That's why I wrote under your previous question that I'm dismayed so many believers wrote they'd feel "uncomfortable" or "judgmental" if they confronted active, unrepentent sin in the Church.
God explained it very pointedly: GET THE SIN OUT OF MY CHURCH. Do it lovingly yet firmly. It is possible to remove the active sin, yet keep the sinner. But an unrepentent sinner must go. Folks, God tells us this; I'm not making it up!
I firmly believe that anyone who sees a Christian actively sinning and says nothing is 1) disobedient to God's commandments; 2) unloving toward the sinner, who needs guideance.
I had to confront this very situation in my own church a few months back. A Christian sister came to me and confessed that her husband, a deacon, had been raping and verbally abusing her. I comforted her as best as I could and immediately told the chief Elder and the Pastor. She is now living apart from him, but in safety; he's been removed as deacon and undergoing intense therapy. I pray they eventually reconcile and have a healthy marriage.
Was it "judgemental" of me to say something? NO. Was I uncomfortable? Yes, but I knew I had to say something, because my sister was being grievously hurt AND my brother was living in active sin, which cannot be tolerated.
I hope this helps. Peace.
EDIT: Scriptural references for those who disagree with me (and there appear to be several) are: Matthew 18:15-17; 1 Timothy 5:20-22; 2 Timothy 2:24-26; Titus 3:10-11; and 1 John 5:16-17.

The Book of 1 Corinthians provides guidelines for responding to sin within the Church. (This would be a non-criminal offense, such as an extramarital affair).
When a person is accused of sin, two Elders are to meet with that person and discuss the problem. If that person does not repent of the sin, it is to be presented to the church body. If the person repents and apologizes for the sin, the body is to accept the apology and return that one to fellowship. If there is no repentance, that one is to be dismissed from fellowship and as 1 Corinthians 5:5 states, "Hand this man (person) over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord."
The idea is that that person would eventually come to repentance through the trials created outside the fellowship and eventually lovingly restored to that fellowship within the body of believers.
In the case of a Pastor, Elder or Deacon, that person could not be restored to the position that was formerly held because of strict guidelines concerning leadership lifestyles.

Bureacratic inefficiency and corruption are endemic in any organization, and the Church is no exception. Many people will simply choose to leave the Church rather than confront the problems. Those who stay will find a tough battle against the status quo. Usually it takes something extraordinary to prompt change.

Educate people that religion is just organized superstition.
A man standing on a street corner telling people what they should do doesn't have much authority. However, if he can get people to believe that some invisible sky being told him that they should do it, he gets much more authority. That's what religion is.
This gives the leadership unwarranted authority that can't really be easily countered by the followers. This is why there is corruption in the church. The cause is religion, itself. Therefore, the only way to get rid of the corruption is to get rid of the religion.
It is no coincidence that Ted Haggard is in good company among the televangelists, when it comes to hypocrisy and corruption. Falwell, Baker, Roberts, Robertson, and others are all in the same hypocritical club. They represent the top level of success in their religion, and are also the most corrupt.

We as Christians have an obligation to not be lead by people who lead unGodly lives. You have a responsibility to at least bring it to the leaders attention that he may need to re evaluate if he is really leading the church by example. If he is not, he should stand down on his own and if he refuses then you can either try to get a group together to oust him from leadership or you will have to separate yourself from that church as you cannot grow in a place of apostacy.

A good start would be updating your moral standards. The reality is that Christianity as it sits today creates a situation where people feel the need to repress things, like sexuality for instance, and that environment leads to the "acting out", or feeling the need to hide their true natures. Until the realization hits home that these "morals" are over two thousand years old, I don't think any effective change will take place.

Church is a hospital for sinners and yes, all of us are sinners in some way or other. We all need to go to church to know what God wants us to know but we don't have to look at other people's faults to see where we go wrong; we have to look to Jesus and His example. We are ALL sinners and frail human beings; therefore, we have to seek the Lord for guidance and not man. Don't judge others by their deeds because you will always be disappointed. God is their judge and they will be judged according to their works. Just accept Christ as your Saviour and love them according to His Word. Go to the Lord and pray for them because no one is pure except the Lord. Amen. Thank you for your question.

So what is your plan? You want to become the thought police and make sure we are all being good? The best thing a Christian can do is follow Jesus. Love His with all our heart. Obey His words. If each of us would do that it would change the world.. But Let me say again each one of us has to do this individually thru the power of the Holy Spirit. We can't do it for each other or even force our weaker brothers and sisters to walk closer to Christ... Jim

Grace unto you, and peace,
from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Two Gospels: both go global, for ww comparison:
First: "this gospel": "beginning" of ww sorrows...Law
Last: "that gospel": Christ: the end of the law... Grace
http://www.godshew.org/TwainShew3.htm#Gospels
The law (and lie) was given by Moses,
but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
He taketh away the first(was, but is not),
that he might establish the second("is").
LAW: press DELETE to "take away"
GRACE: press SAVE to "establish"
Pst - Both is an oxy-MORON with a BAD end.
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons1.htm
Thank God the Holy Bible has no such bad end;
And because his angel plays the "last trump" it:
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons13.htm
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.
