The same thing happened to me! My acne actually got a lot worse when I started using ProActiv. Personally, I think ProActiv is a rip off because if you take a look at the active ingredient in Proactiv...it's benzoyl peroxide which you can get for about 5 bucks at Walmart if you buy Oxy. I would really suggest that you make an appointment with a dermatologist and have him/her put you on an antibiotic and Differin gel. It takes about 6-8 weeks to really see a difference but in the end it's really worth it. Just don't stay on the antibiotics too long because that's not good for you. Hopefully, you are within the time limit to get your money back from ProActiv. Good luck!

Several people say that Proactiv does work and I know my very own sister used it because she had really bad acne at one point and i did witness her face get clearer within a couple of weeks. Everyone has different skin so what works for someone else may not work for you. I use clean and clear products for sensitive skin to keep my complexion clear, but my sister uses Proactive while my other sister uses Clean and clear too, and I have cousins and friends who use Neutrogena products. Before you stop using it, make sure you are doing everything correctly, following the directions exactly (EX: massage 20-30 secs, circular motion, Warm water, rinse Thoroughly, Gently Dab [not rub] with towel to dry... ) and use the products in the correct order. Make sure you are not using bathing soap or any beauty bar on your facial skin first. Some people wrongly believe they have to pre-wash with soap first before using a facial cleanser. This is not true and will prevent the cleanser from achieving the desired results (also cause overdrying). The astringent or cleanser that you use already functions as a facial soap and beauty bar. If you are using it correctly and it's not effective, maybe you should buy another acne product/system from the store this time.

I WISH I COULD BE A PROACTIV SPOKESPERSON! I had really, really, really bad acne problems. I had to use it for a month straight before I started to see results. It did get worse before it got better. But here's the kicker, do you use it like it says, because at first I wasn't. But you actually have to use it twice a day, EVERY DAY! It was a miracle worker! Then after using it for a month, go buy this cream from ProActiv called Advanced Blemish Treatment. You only use this on the pimple only. If you have any bad ones, this cream makes it go away in 3 days tops! But you can't use it all over your face because it will dry your face out really bad. Trust me, stick with it, it really does work!

Yes, I think you should keep using it. Make sure you are following the steps to Proactiv solution too. By washing your face twice a day and using the face wash, toner, and repairing lotion. It won't hurt to use one of Proactiv's mask twice a week too. If you are using makeup...make sure it's oil free. What also helps is a multivitamin. It takes time for medication to actually work and for your body to adjust. Give it a least two to three months of consistency for it to work. Another down fall is "hormones" if they are out of whack..that can lead to break outs too. I use Proactv and I think it works. Sometimes I would get flare ups, but that can be due to stress, poor diet, and hormones too. Good luck!!! Oh yeah...think positive about it too. Try not to touch your face unless your washing it. Your hands are germ infested and can cause breakouts when touching.

I would try something else. The active ingredient in Proactiv is Benzoyl Acid which can be very drying and bleaching leaving skin dry, dull and lifeless. The best product I have found is ARbonne Clear Advantage it is phenomenal the Active Ingredient is Salicylic Acid which is much better. It actually binds to a removes the dirt without drying you out and it comes with a internal supplement to balance you from the inside out
Arbonne Clear Advantage Acne Wash
Unclog pores and cleanse away dirt and oil with this soothing, oil-free pore cleanser that's medicated with prescription strength salicylic acid.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Refining Toner
Remove excess oils while balancing and calming skin leaving your face clean, soothed, hydrated and refreshed.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Acne Lotion
Heal and hydrate problem skin with this acne-fighting lotion that penetrates pores and destroys blemishes and bacteria.
Arbonne Clear Advantage Skin Support
Support skin from the inside with Arbonne's unique supplement that includes a potent combination of acne-fighting nutrients.
It is very affordable and comparable to Proactive prices but you also get the supplement. So it is more for your money. Let me know if you have any questions or want to figure out how to get it.

I have used the proactiv regime years ago and it worked for me. I saw a significant difference in about 2 weeks. If it hasn't worked for you in 3 years I would definitely stop using it. I use the Philosophy line of products now. This moisturizer called "Hope in a Bottle" is a great oil-free lotion that contains salicylic acid which should help breakouts. You can get it from Sephora, QVC.com or from Philosophy.com.

Use up the rest of the supply and see if it gets better. Sometimes acne gets worse before it gets better (odd but true!).If it doesn't get better before than though, try something else. Lots of people will swear by Proactive, but I used it for almost two years and it just never did work. You may need to go to a dermotologist. Just keep in mind. Dermotologists are dumb. Really, they tend to be dumb (or lazy?). Just make sure you know the risks of the meds they put you on. Do your own research, and never let themput you on any one antibiotic for more than 6 months, especially tetracylcline. It's been known to mess you up psycologically and when I was on it, it really messed up my stomach. I still cannot always drink water without getting sick (no joke).

Hard to tell.
See, if you're one of those people who eats junk food all day, has unwashed pillow cases and washes their hands once a day... then you'd have to change those things in order to determine whether or not proactive is really working or not.
If you have a relatively healthy diet, clean pillow cases and you wash your hands after every meal, bathroom break etc. then you may consider writing or calling proactiv to see what they say.
Personally, I think you should do for a couple more weeks and then if there is no change, write in.
Good luck!

My college age kids use ProActiv. The information booklet said your skin could go thru a phase of breakouts before it really clears up. Maybe, maybe not?
It could be all the toxins coming out of your body, too. Having clear skin isn't about a clean face. It's the whole body that needs the right care.
Good nutrition with plenty of water is the key along with good hygiene.
