I would like to know if there are any ways of increasing the amount of calories that you burn during a cardio workout. I do cardio classes and I wondered if there was anything that I could do to increase the amount of calories that I burn during these workouts, to help me lose weight faster? Also, does anybody know how you can train yourself from only being able to do kneeling push ups to full push ups, I have poor upper arm strength, although I do do weight training. Thanks!

The number of calories you burn is a function of your heart rate. In order to burn more calories, you need to get your heart rate higher. The healthiest way to do this is just work harder. Another way it can be done, which is not as heathy, is wearing long sleeves and sweatpants when working out. If you do that, though, make SURE you drink lots of water to replace the water loss through sweating.

Try doing chest presses to increase the strength in your pecs. It's your chest muscles that youre using the most when doing pushups, so you need to do chest building exercises. If you dont know how to do a chest press, ask one of the trainers at the gym that's not working with a client. That's the reason theyre always just walking around the gym, for questions like that.

To burn more calories while exercising, increase the intensity of your workout. Try to push yourself a little harder each workout.

For improving your push-ups, the best way is to do push-ups. Do full push-ups, and do as many as you can. Do this 3 times a week, each time trying to do at least one more than the last time. If you can get 2 more, that's even better. Before you know it, you'll be doing 10, then 20, then 30 push-ups, and then more and more.
