I was considering buying a small countertop convection oven but since I have no experience cooking with convection I am looking here for people who have used this type of oven. I will be using it for baking cookies and the occasional cake. Please give me the brands you like best for I am not new to baking but I am new to convection. Thanks

I have been using a Jenn-Air convection oven/stove for the past 16 years. I almost exclusively use the convection setting on the oven instead of plain "bake".
I reduce BOTH the time and heat settings by about 20-25%. I save time and electricity and there are no problems other than my food bakes faster.
Convection is excellent for baking cookies and cakes because the heat swirls up and around the pans, with no cold spots in the oven. I have fewer overbaked corners, and no spot in the oven is overly hot or cool.

I would comparison shop different makes and models. Look for an Energy Star rating and read the promotional literature for the ovens you're considering. Some features to consider are ease of cleaning, how much insulation there is surrounding the box, and how noisy the oven is.

You will love your convection oven. Things will bake about 1/3 faster, you can fill the whole oven (since the temperature is even throughout), and you can cook many things in the same time as a conventional oven but at a lower temp.

They just cost more to buy!

I have cooked with a convection oven for years and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!! I have one that's a small and looks like a glass bowl with a lid that has the oven built in and it works great for most things but I also have the larger countertop one that I use constantly...it's a DeLonghi brand and I've been using it for at least 5 or 6 years.

I have one that is also a microwave, and really like it. I can use it as a second oven, when I need it, otherwise it is a microwave. It sits above my cook top, so it doesn't take up any room on the counter. Mine is a Kenmore.

i have had one for 10 years now and i love it. mine is American Harvest brand but probably any brand would do. I use mine every day. Here's some things i cook in it on a regular basis:

biscuts
french fries/ tater tots
meatloaf
porkchops
pizza
hotdogs/corndogs
texas toast
cheese sticks

that's impossible, every body with a brain, knows how to use a convection oven just put the food in and press the 1 min button
