Not too long ago, a guy posted a question in the Religion & Spirituality section asking if babies would talk in heaven. For some reason, I sensed that this was supposed to a facetious or mocking question, so I thought that such a facetious question deserved an equally facetious answer. For that reason, I answered, "Yeah, and they'll also sing Elvis songs." I thought it was kind of funny, and apparently someone else did, too, because I got a thumbs up. However, for some reason, I think that someone must have been offended, because my answer was taken off. What's up with that? I've seen PLENTY of answers and questions that were 10 times more offensive than that and were never removed.

I do find your answer funny. And mockery jokes/answers are left on these forums all the time. Your question shouldnt have been removed because it offended someone. Come on people get a sense of humor.

"For some reason, I sensed that this was supposed to a facetious or mocking question, "

Perhaps it was your own attitude. It's funny how we come to a site like this, and we project our own attitude onto someone else. We "assume" that they are in the same mood as we are, or we "assume" their tone is such and such and so and so, but in reality, the type-written word is very two-dimensional. We have to "use our senses". It is difficult for us to believe that our own senses could be off.

If your question did not violate the TOS you (apparently now its fixed) can email the moderator (hopefully its not a bot) and get some satisfaction.

Very likely the one asking removed the answer instead of Yahoo.

I don't think it was offensive, but like others said, perhaps a child died and the questioner was really looking for comfort. If that is the case, they should made that clear.
Too many ask questions just to be asking something that might get replies.... You'd think they got points for the number of answers! If there were fewer 'trash' questions the ones that are looking for genuine answers would be easier to identify.

Maybe the asker was in earnest when they posted the question. And maybe someone who recently lost a baby thought your answer was hurtful. Either of them may have made an acceptable sounding argument to Yahoo! and had this answer removed.

I do think your answer was funny in a cheeky sort of way, but we must try not to hurt other folk's religious sensibilities. I guess it's a good job this only an informal forum.Religious wars have been waged over lesser questions (eg how many angels can dance on the head of a pin? are you supposed to fold your left thumb over your right or your right thumb over your left when you clasp your hands in prayer? beliveve it or not, questions like this caused untold suffering in Europe's and the Middle East's many so called "holy wars")

There is nothing that could be pleasing to God when people rage against one another instead of seeking ways to be loving to each other. Love and care shown to your fellow man, who is made in His Image and Likeness, is the highest honor to God.

I do not know what the reason was, but this is what I get from it. The person who asked that question might have lost a child. They were looking for comfort to make it through something they will never understand. For you to make fun of that, I'm sure you offended that person. There are so many different kinds of people in this world who say things that we think is funny, but they think it's serious. My advice would be to answer every question you are interested in as honestly as possible and always keep in mind that this person just might infact be serious. Good luck and GOD bless.

Its one of the unfairnesses of the current system. I reported several "questions" by one member, they were well out of order and very offensive! I replied to one of them "Grow up Moron..REPORTED", my answer was deleted and I lost 12 points. The point that made my blood boil was the fact that the question was still there!!!! GRRrrrrrrrr >0<
There will always be people who abuse the sytem I guess, still I report them where I see abuse taking place and hopefully they will get fed up and go away :D
Mikey, not everyone with high points thinks they are God, I have no such illusions!!! lol x

PS Your answer made me smile!

Know where you're coming from!! I have had two SERIOUS answers removed because someone reported it as offensive. I answer questions as truthfully as I can, and I take every question seriously, unless it is blatently obvious that it is a joke. I do wonder who, exactly, is in charge at Yahoo Answers. When I received my emails from Yahoo informing me the answers were removed, I did send a comment back, believe me!!! It made me step back and make more conscious decisions about which questions I will answer now!

That happens sometimes here. All it takes sometimes is to offend one person and your answer goes bye bye. Once I had a answer deleted, probably because the question was very homophobic and I thought the question was in bad taste and said so. Personally I've written some answers I thought might offend someone, I did not think that would be the one. The person's answer below me had f u c k in it twice but my answer was the one deleted

Its just a personal thing I guess. A elvis impersonator who just lost a child will surely not be impressed. I got question deleted for neither not a question or answer.
