I am atheist and strongly oppose abortion. I would like to do my part in helping laws get passed that would put an end to this horrible practice. However I insist that I not be preached at or told on a regular basis "God bless" I feel that this is insulting to my personal beliefs. Is there an organization that would respect my wishes and not throw God in my face whenever I want to do my part in helping abolish abortion?

Would it make sence to reject the help of someone of different beliefs than your own?
I wouldn't reject the help from a Christian on many things.

Being atheist helped me make my decission to be anti-abortion. I look at everything in life with a scientific point of view and not a spiritual one. Scientifically speaking all we are as human beings is a bunch of cells, not much different than a embryo which is also just a bunch of cells. Abortion in my mind is murder.

Hi - I can't speak for all Christians, but if my car were stuck in the mud, and you came along and offered to help me out of the mud, I really don't think I'd care what belief system you have.

As for the 'God Bless' - I might say that to you, simply because it is how I speak. If you sneezed, I'd say 'God bless you' - but I would not say it to be offensive to you. Some Christians say it as a matter of course. If you truly do not believe in God, translate it in your mind to thank you.

By the way, thank you. I am anti-abortion and anti-death penalty.

I wouldn't. There are always going to be people that discriminate against you because of your belief. I am Christian and I do not share you views, but I am united with you against abortion. You are trying to help and I think that if you can't find someone that will accept you for trying to abolish something horrible, then they have some issues that stem deeper than being Christian or not.

Yes, there are organizations that would welcome your help. Many are Christian based.

Different people react and act differently. I'm not sure how successful you would be with your demand that people not use "God bless" in your presence. Also, a great deal of the opposition to abortion is faith-based (hence the many Christians in the struggle) and there's a strong tendency for Christians to talk to each other about faith issues.

I would imagine there would have to be an organization that is not completely Christian based that would love to have you tag along. I am a Christian and not only would I accept help from an atheist I would even listen to the advice of one. My parents were 1 atheist and the other was agnostic. I respect both implicitly

I don't know any organizations off the top of my head (mainly because I only know of one catholic org.), but I'm sure that any organization would be glad to have you. Opposing something (or being for it) isn't always a religious matter but one of the heart. If you don't feel comfortable being around religious people (again, I only know of one religious org) then you can find an organization and send some money in, find out if you can volunteer time, research other orgs. We're always glad to have you.

Good luck!
If you feel so strongly about this, you should pursue it.
I am a Christian and I would say that you have a rite to your believes. By the way don't be intimidated, it's a urge compliment if someone says 'God bless' it means that they care about you as a person.

True Christians know that it is not in your power to help abolish abortion; it has gone too far. God's Kingdom or government is what will solve all of man's problems, not just the abortion issue. It will bring an end to war, sickness, divorces and death, to name a few things.

When talking to others about his beliefs, Jesus, on a number of occasions said: "It is written." See John 4:4, 8, 10. True Christians do that as well to let people the true source of their beliefs.

I'd talk to the Buddhists. Maybe even the Quakers, most of them could care less about your beliefs.

I would certainly accept help from an atheist.
But I don't know the specific answer to your question.
I would respect your beliefs though. That's just me personally.
